Since DH has asthma, we are pretty paranoid about our LOs having asthma. The pediatrician said 3 months is a bit early to see any signs.
When did you see signs of asthma?

I couldn't say for sure, but definitely by a year. By 18 months we had him on taking an inhaler nightly and it made a huge difference in how well he slept and how often he got sick. And how severe it was when he did get sick.

It's still too early for a diagnosis, but LO has a prescription for an inhaler with a spacer. He was almost 2 at the time. We noticed he had issues breathing the last time he was sick, and it scared us enough to bring him to the ER. He was sick this week, and the same thing happened but luckily this time we had the inhaler ready for him. Looks like his breathing takes a hit every time he gets sick.
He has food allergies, which increases his chances of developing asthma. I think by age 5 we will know for sure if this will be an ongoing issue for him.

He got a cold around 6 months and had a really hard time with his breathing, and he was prescribed an inhaler and spacer. They won't diagnose him until he's past toddlerhood, but each time he gets a cold his breathing flares up. Hopefully he will grow out of it though, my asthma has got so much better since childhood.

Asthma can't even be diagnosed until maybe age 2 the earliest. With airways that tiny even babies that won't grow up to have asthma can have "reactive airway disease" or wheeze when they're sick. So you won't be able to really know for a while!

I heard similar to @MenagerieMama. My Ped said kids aren't diagnosed until their older. Maybe about 5. My son (16mo) has reactive airway diseas and needs an inhaler when he gets sick. But the Ped said that's not an indication he'll have asthma per se. Some kids will grow out of it.

Not sure, but when DH was around 2 he had an attack that hospitalized him for several days.
