When he was standing and cruising we started putting him in soft-soled shoes when he went outside (not that it really mattered, because we wouldn't put him on the ground outside anyway, but it just seemed like a good time to do it, and the shoes are so cute!). He just got his first pair of hard-soled shoes today, and he's been walking well for over a month.

When she was walking on her own. Before that we would carry shoes in the diaper bag for certain outings or let her cruise barefoot depending where we were.

When we started daycare...they weren't happy with the soft-soled leather shoes, so we got a pair of pedi-peds that she likes. We generally don't wear shoes at home though.
ETA: she was 13 months, and a non-walker...She's just started taking a few steps on her own.

When she was a confident walker, around 11 months and even then it was robeeze. She didn't go into hard sole shoes for another month.

She wears them occasionally but I am not putting shoes on her regularly till full on walking. She wears Smaller by See Kai Run cause her feet are so small but I love cause they are soft soled.

around 12 months. She wasn't walking yet, but that's when it started to get cold out and she will pull her socks right off if she doesn't have shoes on!

Since about 9 months, when she wanted to stand all the time, I will put shoes when we go out most of the time (also because of colder weather). I figured she'd need to start getting used to the feeling of shoes when she wants to start walking.
