Little C is going through "something" - maybe teeth, wonder week, new extreme love of cruising - and is totally fighting the AM nap. I am 100% NOT READY for him to switch to one nap, but he seems to be toying with the idea this week.
When did your LO switch to one nap??

11 months. It was forced because of daycare. I thought there would be a lot more backlash (i'm more of the "let things happen naturally" person) but the transition was a lot easier than i thought.

How old is he again? Have you tried extending his awake time before his first nap? That would be the first thing I'd do if he was fighting a nap.

I feel like DS is close to going to one nap. He's 10 months old.

around 20 months, but that's largely because he was such a poor sleeper at night.

15 months but he started fighting the PM nap around 12 months. I limited his AM nap to 45 mins or so to make sure he would take the PM nap.

He normally is up around 6:30 goes back down between 830 and 845 and then wakes btwn 10 and 1030, goes back down btwn 1 and 130 and is in bed at night by 6, regardless of pm nap length...always just pooped by end of day.
Today he fought his nap til 10 in the crib so I got him out and we played for 30 mins before he was acting tired again (bc yes, he showed all his reg tired signs at 845...ugh), gave him a bottle and he is still asleep at 12:15.
He is 10.5 months @Sammyfab: @Freckles: totall appreciate your advice - tomorrow I will try extending am wake time a bit and see if it helps. Thanks!!

@Mrs. Confetti: without a doubt you should extend the time before his first nap. At that age my LO could handle 3 hours. I wouldn't consider one nap unless he is pushing that first awake time past 3.5 hours (and that would be when you put him down and not him mucking past that time).

@Mrs. Confetti: at 20 months, but she started fighting at least one of her two naps around 17-months... we were just resistant to dropping that second nap, but once we did we got this huge consolidated nap, and it was great!

My LO made the transition at 15 months. There were many days before where he refused to take the afternoon nap.

Daycare situation is such that he takes only a 30 minute morning nap and then a longer afteroon nap (sometimes 2 hrs).
At home, he stretches morning awake time to 3 hours, but does take 2 naps of at least 1 hour in lenght. If he sleeps 11+ hrs overnight he wants to go even longer sometimes! I'm going to keep pushing the morning nap until well after 1 year though.

Story of my life lately! He's 15 months and some days wants 2 naps, others just 1. He's gotten a little better since walking on his own, but every day is a little different. I notice that he still gets tired after about 3 hours of awake tinge, but sometimes really fights sleep. Yesterday was 1 nap, but he STTN, if he wasn't a total bear at 5pm, I'd be fine with it. Subscribing to this thread for sure!

Some days she would fight her 2nd nap, other days she would go down no problem.

15 months with Charlie. He could have gone on taking 2 longer but we pushed him to one because his bedtime was getting later.
Olive 17 months. She could have gone in longer too but it was hard to have her on an opposite schedule with Charlie.

LO is almost 11 months and has been going through some kind of nap situation for a couple of weeks. She rests more and better with 1 nap (2.5 hours), but sometimes she wakes up too early and kind of takes two naps. She's more miserable on those days.

DD didn't switch until 20 months or so; we just switched DS at 11.5 months, but he was showing signs of not needing two naps a few weeks earlier than that. The first week of changing to only one nap was kinda crazy, but the second has been smooth sailing. He actually sleeps more total hous every day than he did with two naps!

We transitioned to 1 at 12 months with M., but she got sick recently and has been wanting 2 again this week. We're just trying to roll with what she needs.

We transitioned to one nap at 18 months. He just naturally transitioned on his own. One day, he just refused to take the 2nd nap and his first name became longer. So one nap it was!

Thanks everyone -- yesterday his afternoon nap was SIX MINUTES before he was up, awake and playing in his crib. Today, I planned to stretch his morning longer to see if it would help (thanks for the advice @Sammyfab) and then lo and behold, he was showing crazy tired signs after two hours and crashed when I put him in the crib. I'm really hoping to keep the first nap until at least 14-15 months...

14 months and still going strong at two naps, sometimes three depending on how grumpy/injured we become that day. Hopefully we'll keep up with the two naps for a while longer as mommy needs all the down time she can get to deal with little sister!
