E likes to ask for dessert after dinner, but luckily he doesn't ask everyday. He usually gets sorbet, soy ice cream sandwiches, or vegan cupcakes on very special occasions. Most times that he asks for dessert, I say no and he accepts my answer. I just don't know what's going to happen when he no longer finds my answer acceptable.

I think by 15 months she understood that food was kept in the refrigerator, and would point to it when she was hungry. Now, at 19 months, she knows where different snacks/foods are kept and will let me know exactly what she wants. Lately she's been wanting the ice cream sandwiches I have hidden in the freezer :T

@Rubies: my DH & LO's "thing" is getting ice-cream together, too. At least once or twice a week, when he takes her out on his own, they always make a pit stop for froyo or ice cream. He tries to hide it from me, but the ice cream smeared all over her face is a dead giveaway :T

I'm kind of looking forward to hear her ask for dessert. Poor girl hasn't had any sweets because of her allergies. She has dried fruit and dates (basically sugar) on occasion, but still. It'll be nice to just eat something "bad" and be able to share it with her.

My DS has been standing by the freezer asking for "pah-cull" (yogurt Popsicle) since he was around 19 months?

My 3.5 year old doesn't really ask. Kinda weird! I guess I don't give her a lot of treats. Just mainly regular food!
