When I was pregnant, I got way too many negative comments. Even now when all 3 of us go out, I get comments like, "oh you poor thing". Why? What am I missing? I'm loving having my babies so close. Even though baby #2 has a tooth and is colicky, I am loving this. What am I missing? Is there a milestone or something that will be super hard with 2? Fill me in moms!

I feel like everything with two was smooth and pretty easy until LO 2 was around 14 months. Two toddlers is more draining for me!

Two in toddler town is challenging but fun most of the time. Mine are 2.5 and almost 15 months. I get the comments all the time.

I think it'll get hard when #2 starts walking. Right now it's WAY easier than I thought it'd be.

My two (twins) are getting tricky now that they are both walking (ahem, running in opposite directions). But they've always been rough because neither likes to sleep. When they're both sick, having two little ones close in age is hard. Everyone wants mama! But generally people will always give me the pity eyes and say "looks like you have your hands full!!" when they see me out with two babies, even when they're both asleep or perfectly sweet and content. I don't think people know what else to say! My mom had my sister and I 13 months apart and got it a lot too. She says she can't really remember the early days of two so close together. It was hard, but motherhood is hard in general. It didn't seem particularly harder than having one the year before.

Agree with the above. I've loved my two a year apart and frankly it's been incredibly easy up until number 2 started to become more independent (is basically walking now) and seems to have picked up a bit of older brother's toddler attitude.
I never really had tough days before the youngest turned 8.5 months but now most days usually have a moment or two where I feel drained and wiped and like this mom of two gig is really quite tough.

Two toddlers grates on my patience more than a toddler and a baby, especially when they fight! The "that's mine!" and wanting everything the other touches even though they weren't even playing with it in the first place gets a little old. But when they play well together and love on each other, it's awesome. Pros and cons, just like any other stage!

It probably is crazy..... You just love it and thrive in it! I think as mothers we all find different things challenging. Since we are all different and have different strengths and weakness different ages might be more stressful. I thought my three boys were the most challenging in infancy. I had trouble figuring out how to get around with three babies who always wanted to be held. It took me awhile to get into my mommy groove and really enjoy it.
People will always make comments, some good some bad. I love the Jim Gaffigan bit where he talks about having four kids and people saying " oh that's nice, if that's how you want to live your life." Makes me laugh every time because I get those kinds of comments constantly

Mine are 21 months and 3 months and I feel the same way. People are always commenting how crazy it is, how hard it will be " those first 6 months will be the hardest of your life.." In all honestly, it's been a cake walk for me, but I'm blessed with super chill babies. My toddler can be a handful, but the baby is so easy going, it really feels like no difference then when it was just her. I agree, I think once they're both walking it will be different, but for now, I'm loving it. ( we've even been discussing adding in a third baby!)

I find it changes all the time. It was easy until DS2 developed a big mommy preference at around six months or so and only wanted to be held by me all time. Now he is more mobile and I think it's gotten easier again because he can entertain himself more.

For me, my two toddlers (twins) are far more challenging than anything to do with the baby. I think I would feel basically just as challenged if I only had them two. So, I would say that when they hit the toddler stage, you may feel like it's more difficult, but it will always still have good thrown in there because it's your kids and you love them. Even on the worst days, I wouldn't trade having my three boys even though by almost anyone's definition having three under two is "crazy."

Winter. Getting two squiggles ready when it's way below freezing, dealing with walking or car seats and then figuring out where to stash all their stuff when we're at the destination. Just to layer them back up again, winter is annoying.
When #2 gets mobile and you have two little climbers who like to push their limits. Lo1 got some quick lessons in if we're going out and doing fun stuff you need to listen to mommy the first time. I can't run in two diff directions and catch two monkeys.

It was hard for me because my second cried 10+ hours a day as a baby. I felt a lot of guilt about the first being neglected a lot. Then, it got crazy all over again when DD2 started walking and started throwing temper tantrums.

To me, that sounds crazy already. ONE colicky baby is crazy to me. I just am not a newborn person, truth be told. I'm hoping our second lo is easier and that I am more laid back, but time will tell.
Maybe you're a baby person. You never know when life will throw you or your kids curve balls, so I think you shouldn't worry about it and just enjoy the high!
editing to add.. Not that life WILL get immensely harder.. maybe it just won't. I'm just saying we all have our ups and downs at some point, so it's ok to just be happy with this part and not worry just yet about life getting too difficult!

I think it's all relative to a certain extent. Some people have more challenging children or some might find certain situations more challenging than others. In my case I have A very easy newborn and a relatively easy toddler. I still find it a lot of work and stressful getting out of the house and managing the needs of two children in general but it's much easier then I thought it would be save for a few challenging times when their needs coincide and are both pretty immediate. I think it's great that it's been going well for you

Mine aren't as close as yours but so far this first week and half that I've been a mom of two it's the smothering guilt I feel for not being able to jump at DD1's needs immediately like I used to. At almost 20 months, she understands to wait a minute and trusts me to what I say I'll do but it breaks my heart. That and I thrive on routine and newborns don't really know which way is up so I feel kinda lost. It isn't really hard per se, just different. I haven't attempted an outing alone yet though...

For me, it's sickness. Mine are not nearly as close as yours (22 months apart), but when they are sick at the same time and both want me to hold them, it makes me feel very guilty when I have to put one down to tend to the other because the toddler is really still just a little one who wants his mama. And when the illness lasts longer than a few days, it's very very draining.
Other than that, I don't think it's all that hard. There are rough moments, but it's mostly fun. Every stage brings new challenges, and I think I do better with the toddler stage than with newborns/infants (give me good sleep and I feel like I can handle anything) - but if you're enjoying a colicky baby and a young toddler, I think you'll enjoy any other stages just as much if not more.

Luckily I still nurse Zuma so I feel like I'm still able to snuggle her a couple times a day and maybe I don't feel as guilty?

My boys are 3 and 5 months. The first few months were pretty easy because LO2 slept a lot during the day and slept on the go all the time. When he stopped doing that things got a little more tricky. I don't think 2 is easy but my first child is a very demanding, spirited boy who does not nap anymore. My second is much more chill, so they balance each other out. But my husband works a lot and I stay at home and don't have much help so that could certainly be shaping my view on this.

My kids are 5 and 3 and life is all out insanity. A lot of that is my doing, I know, but I have a husband who is often not around, and am at home with the kids, and it is h-a-r-d for me. My 5 year old is emotionally challenging, my 3 year old is physically challenging, and both of them have needs and activities that take up most of my days.
I often wish that I were a little more laid back, go-with-the-flow kind of person, but it isn't how I am built. So onward and upward!
