L is 6.5 months old and i have started weaning the pacifier in an attempt to get him to gain more weight. I think we may have been giving it too much before.
I've found it was really easy to cut out most uses and I was amazed at how often i was giving it unnecessarily before. But now he still takes it to stay asleep (I nurse him to sleep, then transfer to crib and give him paci, it usually falls out shortly after). I also give it in the car for fear of a meltdown because it is not practical to pull over constantly and I can't drive when he is crying hysterically. Though for short, local car rides he seems fine with or without the paci.
Finally, I give it sometimes when trying to get him to nurse to sleep - if he is over tired/agitated he refuses the breast until i relax him with the paci for a minute.
I am hoping to cut it altogether - any tips on how you did it? And I am curious to hear your reasons too.
