...When do you go get them?
LO just woke up from a 2-hour nap and I can hear her babbling and playing by herself. I usually wait until she starts whining before I go rescue her. Is this what everyone does? Or, do I go get her while she's happy and content?

i just go get them. charlie is usually cranky because we usually wake him up from his nap (after 3 hours.. sometimes longer!).

It would depend on how I was feeling, or if I was in the middle of something. For the most part I let him be for about 15 minutes because he usually needs cooldown time anyway. If you go in right away he actually starts to cry even if he was fine by himself. He gets overwhelmed, I think!

It depends. If I'm doing something ill try to finish, but if I'm just sitting there watching tv ill go get her.

The infant that I nanny is on a sleep schedule, so after 2 hours I go up and get him. If he wakes up before that, I leave him in there until it is time to get him.

Has never happened. My LO always cries as soon as she wakes up.

I do the same. If she's able to entertain herself in her crib, so be it! I have been trying to allow more solo play time so she's able to do it when I need to get stuff done around the house.

I'll wait before getting her. The babbling is super cute. I'll usually get her when the babble turns into a calling out for someone sound and before it turns into a whine.

I usually let him go 15 or 20 minutes, or until he gets whiny -- whichever comes first

I'm listening to him babble away right now after his afternoon nap. SO CUTE. He wasn't a big babbler until recently, so I love listening to the "ooooooh bahbabababaBAHba" and the "mmmm mmmmma." Hee her!
Annnnnd there's the whine. My 15 minute grace period is up

I go get him right away. I'll just enter the room with a happy smile and say "Yay! You're in a happy mood! Hi!" and then pick him up. I was afraid that if I waited until he was whiny, he might start thinking that he has to whine for me to go get him, which would be a bad habit.

If LO is happy we'll let her play for a little bit (3 mins tops) and then get her.

I ended up getting her RIGHT before she started whining. I think I surprised her. The look on her face was like, "Oh, you were SO close to getting a piece of my mind. I love you!"

@rubies: hahaha! how cute! I noticed that once I started getting my LO right before he started whining, he stopped doing it. He only cries/whines if he wakes up too early from his nap and can't seem to fall back asleep.

If it's been 2 hours I go get her...sometimes she wakes up happy after 1 hour then I'll leave her alone and watch her on the monitor...if she starts yawning I leave her for 20 minutes max to see if she falls back asleep...and 99% of the time she does go back to sleep
