I would probably have just answered with "uhm, no..." and let them feel bad lol. That's a question that should be off limits.

The last time someone asked, I told her I just had a baby. Then she followed up with, "when?"...ugh. It had been six months which made me feel worse.

@autumnlove: you do NOT look pregnant!! If it makes you feel better, some lady stopped me in Costco and said, "how many more days?", I told her just under a hundred from my due date and laughed. She responded "NO. How many are in there?"...uh, I had extra fluff left over from E so I know I appear to be farther along while pregnant. I hate that people feel the need to comment on anyone's body!!

Geez you have bad luck in the peanut gallery department! I don't know what I would do...I would probably say I'm not pregnant then quickly change the subject.

I can't believe you went along with it. That is so rude and I would want them to know that.

I've had this happen a few times before (one was a co-worker) and the other few were strangers. (I carry most of my excess weight in my tummy so I do look a few months pregnant) It is very hurtful to have people ask me if I'm pregnant when I'm not. Yes, I know I have a tummy, but that doesn't mean I'm pregnant. People need to keep their mouths shut. I would have been rude to those people.

People should know better, so I have no problem making them feel bad!

What were you talking about, lol? I also talk to everyone, so yeah, I probably would have just went along with it, esp. if they were strangers!

I would say I'm not pregnant. As a matter of fact, I once had a patient poke me in my *non-pregnant* tummy and ask "Boy or girl?" I just gave him a dirty ass look and said "Neither, I'm not pregnant."

He should have known better than to ask that right before I irrigated his Foley catheter. (Kidding... mostly)

ETA if I weren't so shocked by the question (yeah I had some pudge going on) I would have lectured him about keeping his effing hands to himself. Coulda, woulda, shoulda.

I usually just say "No, I'm not pregnant" and then try to laugh it off because I'm embarrassed.

The only way I would go along with it is if it was really crowded and someone was offering me a seat!

My worst was right after my daughter was born. I was in Kmart WITH her (a 4 day old baby) and obviously still had a belly. The cashier was like "Holy crap you are already pregnant again?"...um no...pretty sure it's impossible to be that pregnant with a newborn!

I had some old ladies come up and ask me when I was a teenager. I cried. They didn't even feel bad. Just kind of shrugged and told their friends, "nope she's not pregnant"

I did have someone ask me when I was due when i was in the hospital having lunch...but it was a couple days after having E, so i definitely looked pregnant. And it was the hospital's priest, so...God owes me

I'm surprised this hasn't happened before, since I carry weight in my mid section, especially post-baby. You are SO sweet to let them think that! I don't know how I'd react.

I think the best way to try to find out if it's not just a stranger in passing is to ask if they have any kids (find a way to work that into conversation) I assume most pregnant women would say "yes/no, and one due in {month}"

@Mrs.Panda: In that case you can ask him if he prefers a 22 French or a 30 French catheter. >:)

You are too nice. I would say "fffffffff no wth!!!" if someone ever asked me.

I've had people ask me if I'm pregnant. I am 19 weeks with a noticeable bump but I still answer "NO" just to teach then a lesson. Gahhh it's so rude to ask! I would never ever ask someone.
