Lo is nearly 14 months, and the last two weeks have been aweful. We had finally gotten him down to just one night waking and it was GLORIOUS for about 1 week. Then, it just fell to pieces. He strutted waking much earlier than normal and was inconsolable for sometimes upwards of an hour. I knew he was teething so I thought that was it. But by the end of that week, naps were a mess too. He was overtired and just not himself. THEN...he got sick. Started coughing and had the runny nose and couldn't sleep at all. We had one truly AWEFul 48 hour period that was misery. Took him in to the doctor, and he's got a bad double ear infection. Poor guy!
So, this past week he's been on meds, and slowly getting better. Still has a runny nose, but definitely more himself. He only problem is that his sleep is awful. He's waking up 3-4 times again, and doesn't want to go back in his crib. So he's been in bed with me again. And frankly, while I lie the snuggles, I am ready to go back to sleeping again!
So my question (sorry for the novel!) is: when should we get back on track with sleep after ds was/is sick? He's still on meds and is obviously still recovering, but I don't like the bad habits that are developing. Should I wait until it's clear he's no longer sick, or go by his overall mood?
