@Foodnerd81: I adore robeez! DS has been walking for about six weeks and he's still in them. They're great. I'm in no rush to move to hard soles, though I am going to ask the ped at his 15 month appt next month.

We kept her in the see kai run baby shoes until she sized out. They are flexible leather soles with a small spot of rubber for traction. We loved them! She wore them hiking, playing outside- never had any issue and from what I've read flexible soft sole is best for as long as possible. She still wears see kai run but in kid sizes now. For rain/snow we used baby bogs which a pretty flexible as well and just switched to regular bogs this winter (she's nearly 4)

We started hard soled shoes around 15 mos because she was outside on the playground at school but it was chilly outside and I was afraid her feet were getting cold. She still wears Robeez at home, however, at almost 2.5 years old - LO thinks they're slippers!

dad started walking at 15 months, and was wearing soft soled shoes until maybe 2 weeks ago when she sized out. She is almost 20 months and in a size 6 now

DS1 was basically barefoot all the time but when he started walking at 12 months we got him Stride Rite SRTs. He was only wearing them at the park and at church on Sundays and he was only there like an hour at a time max so I wanted him to have a sturdy shoe. The rest of the time he was barefoot.

He started daycare at 16 months so he continued to wear SRTs but he prefers to be barefoot so he used to rip off his shoes and socks all the time.

He's 28 months and still in Stride Rites.

@oliviaoblivia: You raised a good point.! He has hard soles in his daycare cubby for the playground!

We switched to stride rites for outside around 1, I think. But, fwiw, my son at 22 months still wears robeez as his montessori school slippers. Hilariously, they are white with pink dots on them and bows, since they were extra slippers his teacher had in the class when he was slipping too much in the ones I sent. I have since gotten him better slippers, but he apparently demands "his" pink robeez instead, hahaha!

My first son moved to flexible soles shoes from Stride Rite once he was walking more steadily. I used them only when he was outside as protection. Inside he was barefoot (it was summer though!). My pediatrician told us to have him out of shoes as much as possible.
