I'm going to have to take LO (16 mos) for his first hair cut very soon. I have been putting it off because he has these sweet curls at the back!

2.5 and we haven't taken her yet. We probably should to even it out but I can't cut the curls in the back.

Last week at 1 week shy of 3 years old when a boy at daycare cut it

The week after he turned 1 we finally got it cut. It was out of control! He's had 3 now at 18 months.

@yellowbird: oh no! A boy cut my little sister's hair in Kindergarten. My mom was so upset!

@Smurfette: @Corduroy: glad to know I'm not the only one who has trouble thinking about cutting baby curls

Around 10 months we got her fringe (bangs?) cut but the hairdresser did a horrible job. She's 3 this month and hasn't had her hair cut since.

Not until she was just over 2. She's almost 3 and still hasn't had her second haircut

@yellowbird: Oh no!
@jhd: Blake has the beginning of a little curly mullet. I never understood when moms let their kids walk around with mullets before, but now I get it because no scissors are touching those curls anytime soon! Alice still doesn't have much hair so there's not much to trim.

Right after she turned 2. Just got it cleaned up in the back. No bangs or anything like that.

DS was 11.5 months (2 weeks ago). It was a little shorter than I liked but it's already getting long again. He definitely has my fast-growing, kind of crazy hair!

@twodoghouse: my brother has been asking me when I will cut his mullet for months. He just likes to pester me. But it's definitely approaching mullet stage now. And yes, never understood moms crying over haircuts but I was definitely tearing up this am just thinking about it!

@jhd: Don't give in!!! Everyone asks me when I'm going to cut his hair. Ummmm, never!

@twodoghouse: lol maybe I can hang on a little longer. But all the kids at the playground refer to him as she!

Six months for Ds... He was born with thick hair that didn't fall out and it just kept growing. I held out for as long as I could but he started scratching at his ears so I caved. He's had so many haircuts since and he'll be 3 in a few months.

@jhd: I could have written your post word for word. Now that summer is on the way out and the humidity is decreasing the curls are turning into a mullet Sadly they will be cut off on Tuesday. He will be 16 months exact!y.
My older boy was 12.5 months but it needed to be cut much earlier than that.

LO1 is 3.25 and we still haven't cut it. To be fair, she was pretty bald for a long time and now has a mess of curls so it's not even shoulder length when dry and curly. Plus the back is tight curls so no mullet! It almost shaped itself into a cute angled bob on its own

@skipra: I hope the haircut goes well! I told DH he needs to have a good hair day so I can get more pics before I'm ready!

Maybe 17 months for ds1 and 13 months for DS2. It's an old wives tale in the Latin culture that you have to wait until they are older than one to cut their hair or they will be mute. I know it's not true but I followed it to avoid hearing my mom!

I just read an interesting article about not cutting a kid's hair until they're old enough to make the decision themselves. I'm thinking about using that approach. At the least it would be an excuse to not cut it when I'm not ready, since from what ya'll are saying that might happen!

She's 2 and not even close to getting her first. Her hair is super curly and the locks keep her hair looking really short. She could be 10 before we get her her first one at this rate!

A friend of mine has a 2 year old boy who's hair is to his mid back. She wants to cut it but her husband is determined they don't. Poor kid looks like a girl and is often confused for one. It surprises me her DH doesn't want it but since he is such a man's man. Esp since it clearly bothers the poor kid to have it that long

The day before he turned 16mo. There was a serious mullet and I finally got sick of it.

He was 20 months and had those sweet curls at the back too, but it was getting really crazy. He was a bald baby so it took awhile for his hair to come in. After I had it cut, I did wonder why I didn't do it sooner. He looks so cute with his baby boy haircut.

@mrsjyw: Same here! DS got his first trim at 6 months because he had lots of hair around the sides of his head that just kept growing and growing. He has to go get his haircut every 3-4 months or so!
