It's been awhile. I take public transportation but I use the bus.
I think the last time was last year (or maybe it was two years ago) when we were in NYC and had to use the subway.
Before that, it was back when I lived in PA and used the regional rails about once a year.
I'm definitely not a regular train commuter.

I don't even remember. I took the subway a lot when I lived in Philly, and sometimes Amtrak to see my ILs/SIL. It's funny, because my apartment complex is butted up against an Amtrak line. Like it I opened my front door and threw a rock it would hit the tracks. The station is literally right across the street (It's usually very quiet!)

We took the kids on the train the day before Easter to travel for an Easter Egg hunt. DD loved it; I think the train ride may have been more fun than the egg hunt, for her.

My family used to live in the Chicago suburbs, so we'd take the train into Chicago pretty frequently. I loved it!

I don't remember...I used to take SEPTA a lot when I was a student teacher. My husband keeps reminding me that I can still take PATCO into Philly but I just find it easier to drive.

@spaniellove: You live in the Philly area?? My parents, sister and DH family live in the suburbs of Philadelphia. I was born and raised in Chester County.
I don't think I'll be able to find a job in PA. There's been a lot of layoffs in that area and in my field so it's pretty tough to find a job there. I'm keeping my eyes open. Though DH and I kinda want a couple hours buffer from our families. Haha. We want them close enough to be able to drive within a few hours but not too close that they can stop by everyday. Haha.

Um, gosh I couldn't even tell you. When I was visiting somewhere I've taken the subway but that's it. Trains aren't a normal mode of transporation around here!

Maybe two weeks ago? I usually take the bus to work but sometimes I will use the train if I don't feel like waiting.

In 2010, I think. Hubby and I took Via Rail from Toronto to Windsor (felt quite swanky, with free alcohol, a meal and hot towels). Then we took Amtrak from Detroit to Chicago (less swanky, but very comfortable - I loved the reclining chairs).

I have never been on a train. No, that's not true. I've never been on a moving train but I have visited the L&N museum in Louisville. That was fun And that was back in the summer of 2011.

@spaniellove: Well, that's what I heard from former coworkers in the area. I hope it starts picking up again. I would love to live in my hometown again. It's definitely a place I could live forever... only if I find a job in the area.

@Grace: Your post reminded me that I took a train at the end of November when I traveled to Vietnam. It was a freaking scary sleeping train. Maybe that's why I forgot.

@fancyfunction: I think they count. Seattle has a big commuter train called Sound Transit. I have not been on that train but I have been on a light rail. The light rail is much slower. Though, that last time I was on the light rail was months ago.

I just remembered - we just moved and I live right next to a train station now! Maybe we can take the family on a ride sometime this summer into town. That would be fun!

Christmas going to visit my mom with LO. I lost my ticket b/c I was fussing around tryin to nurse discreetly. That's when I said eff covers and eff travelling by train again. I HATE Via.
