We + my parents live on the east coast, while my husband's mom and family live in CA and his dad and step-mom split time between CA and NC (and will be in NC at xmas this year), so we always have to plan ahead for the holidays since travel is always involved.

This year we're celebrating Christmas on Christmas Eve with my parents, flying out to CA on Christmas day (it's a GREAT day to fly, the airports are dead!), spending a week in CA, then flying from CA to NC to have 3 Kings Day in NC, then flying home. Whew.

We haven't booked our tickets yet, but we always fly JetBlue if possible, and also always get the "extra-room" seats on JetBlue - which makes a big difference when flying with a baby.

We won't be traveling this year, but pre-baby we started to book right about this time. It was for train travel mostly though.

We're going to my family for thanksgiving but that's just driving so no arrangements necessary. We're staying put for Christmas.

We booked Christmas tickets to fly to see my family back in June. They are not cheap and I am sure they are worse now. Just driving 2 hours to ILs for thanksgiving so not much to plan for that.

I ignore it as long as possible. I hate spending any holidays away from my family but I know it's not fair to DH so we always compromise and spend some time with his mom.

Argh. We've been procrastinating. But DH is about to tell his work the dates, even though we haven't technically choose a place to go yet. I'm thinking about doing a last-minute charter deal. But it'll be the first time we do it, we usually plan almost a year in advance!

We are not going anywhere for Thanksgiving and have tossed around the idea of visiting my IL for Christmas, but I really would prefer to just stay home for Christmas too. I'm going back to work right after the new year and don't want to share my baby!

Thanks to this thread I just started looking into it! Hoping to take a local trip but need to figure out flights!

No travel for us this year, since I'm working both Thanksgiving and Christmas. But if we were, I'd have the travel wrapped up months ago!

Last year when we went to NY for Christmas to see my MIL we booked our tickets in like... August I think? I don't see the point in waiting if you know when you're going and it is over Christmas, prices only get higher as you get closer!

This year Christmas is at my parents' house so that's easy-- 2 hr drive. Thanksgiving is at our house, which I love because I don't have to go anywhere or find pet sitters!

We've actually already sort of discussed NEXT Christmas (how's that for planning ahead?! lol). Just because that will be our first Christmas with a baby and it is supposed to be my MIL's year but we have no idea how/if we can really stay with her if we have a baby. She doesn't have enough bedrooms for people so we are generally on an air mattress on the living room floor. Not sure I'm willing to do that with a baby honestly. We're talking about seeing if we can maybe convince her to come to us for Christmas next year instead. We'll see how that goes! haha
