We are looking at a smaller time frame this time. My age is a factor, as well as the fear of having another miscarriage in between pregnancies like last time (which pushed our timeline out further than planned, as well).

DS1 is 3.5. DS2 is 1. They're almost exactly 2.5 years apart.

I would like to leave a bit more time, like 3.5 years, rather than the exact 3 we have now. However, DH wants them closer together, so I could see going for 2.5 years as well...I don't know. Will depend what life is like at the time!

The gap between #1 and #2 was 22 months, and between #2 and #3 will be 23 months. I really liked that gap the first time, #1 was so easy as a not-quite-2 year old, so I could handle a colicky newborn. I cannot imagine dealing patiently with a newborn and a 3 year old now! Although he is a lot more independent, he's also a lot more defiant and less willing to just go along happily with whatever I suggest.

We are done at 3, so I'm happy we had them all relatively close together. Just hoping that either #2 is an easygoing 2 year old (which does not seem likely given his 'tude at 18 months) or that #3 is my lone "happy baby," because my first 2 were ragey newborns and I am afraid of the wee ones now

I'm really really hoping to have a 3rd. My first 2 are 19 months apart and while that has its great parts, I didnt want to do it again. I'm hoping to TTC when DD2 is somewhere around 2.5 so we will have a little over twice the age gap as we did with the first 2. Having kids is hard period, but man, having 2 babies in the house was really hard for me. I feel like I missed a lot of an extremely enjoyable age with DD1 because I was stressing or hormonal after having DD2. Plus, not having to worry about what exactly my child is doing while I run off to vomit sounds nice lol

ETA: we would have had an 18 month gap between 2 and 3 but we lost that pregnancy. I want more distance from my miscarriage before trying again, which factors into everything as well.

We're 9 weeks with #2 yet, and a 3rd isn't a for-sure thing (I'm all in, DH isn't yet) but we would space out 2 and 3 a bit more so we're only paying for 2 in daycare.
There will be 2 years 3 months between 1 & 2. And we would need 2 years 6 months between 2 & 3 to have #1 in all-day preschool.

Well between #1 and #2 we were ready for a 2 year gap but ended up with a 3 year gap. This time with #2 and #3, we didn't really decide, we just let it happen and we got lucky the first time which means these will have a 2 year gap.

The three year gap worked out GREAT. My oldest was old enough to know what was going on. She completed potty training and transition to a big girl bed. She could appreciate the baby and knew how to share and wait and help.

I'm a bit more nervous about the two year gap this time. He's not potty trained, we had to buy another crib and he has no clue whats about to hit him. But we were happy because the oldest will be in K so it still means only 2 in daycare at a time. And I'm not sure we would have been so eager to go back to the baby stage if we had waited another year and were still on the fence about a third.

We want at least one more, and there will already be a bigger gap. My first two are 2 years (23.5 months) apart. I loved that spread, but DH had a stressful grad program this year and my second pregnancy was really rough, so we opted to wait until he finished (next week!) before we discussed TTC. At this point, a third would be at least 2.5 years younger than my second. I like the two grade spread, but if it doesn't happen fairly quickly, it'll be more like 3. Past that, I think I'd want a fourth two years behind the hypothetical third.

The difference between #1 & #2 is 20 months. #2 & #3 should be about 28 months. I absolutely love the gap between my first two but it wasn't even physically possible for me to get pregnant at that point and I just wasn't ready. I also didn't want a newborn in the summer. So we waited to try until I would have a September due date and LO1 would be at least 4. Both kids will be in preschool a couple mornings a week which will be a huge help too.

We started going through the adoption process when my baby #2 was 8 months old. We were matched with a baby that would have been born around my 2nds 1st bday so they all would have been a year apart but the mom decided to parent so that didn't work out. Now we're still TTC and it hasn't been successful so I don't know what the heck were doing haha. Ideally I would have liked my kids all a year apart. But I can't imagine being pregnant last year while dealing with my sons colic.

1 & 2 are 16 months apart. We wanted a larger gap and 2 & 3 are 2 years and 3 months apart.

We were surprised with a 12.5 month gap between 2&3. 1&2 are 23.5 months apart.
I think we'll aim for 20-24ish months apart for #4.

We're planning on a slightly smaller age gap (23-25 months vs 27 months)only because I'd like another early summer baby.

The gap was 22 months between both 1/2 and 2/3, almost the same to the day. We actually wanted 2/3 even closer together, since we're getting older (late 30s) didn't see any good reason to wait and like having all our kids close together.

My sons are 25 months apart, so pretty close to two years. My oldest has always been more high needs than the average child, so I wish the gap would have been larger, but it wasn't planned. My oldest didn't take having a brother too well, and he constantly wanted my attention all the time and got jealous when I did things with the baby. He recently turned 3, and he seems to be maturing a lot, and he is starting to like his brother. I think a 3 year gap would have been ideal, because he seemed like he needed me so much when he was younger.

My second son is much more laid back than my oldest, so I could probably handle a smaller age gap, but I don't want to. I want a little break from being pregnant, and I would like to enjoy my two boys for a while. I think if I go for a third, I would want a 3+ year gap. Luckily, time is on my side. I'm 28.

My two are 20 months apart and we're planning on a similar gap with #3 (which means we're starting TTC again soon!!). I originally wanted a 2- 2.5 year gap between LO1 and LO2, but we started TTC when LO1 turned one because it took over a year to conceive him (with a miscarriage in there). Because of that, we'll be TTC when LO2 turns one. He was conceived super fast, but there's always a chance it could take awhile like the first time, so I'd rather start sooner than later.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: I have always said I could go 3 kids or 4 kids; 3 if they're all close together, or 4 if we have two closely spaced sets of two with a larger gap between them (so maybe 4 years between 2 and 3). I've ended up in the first scenario, and the other day DH said something about #4.....haha he stopped me in my tracks!

My first two are 26 months apart, exactly. If we have a third, I would like for the gap to be closer to 3yrs so that DD (#2) is in preschool and more independent than DS was at 26mos. This would mean starting to TTC in Dec/Jan.

We wanted a 2 year gap between #1 and #2, after a miscarriage, they ended up being 24 months apart. I really like that age gap!

If we decide to have #3, I think we'll try to shoot for a 2 year gap again since I'm getting a lil older and conceiving and maintaining a pregnancy isn't easy for us.
