I never think of Eleanor!

Nope. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a nickname, but I think the Amy/Amelia comparison is more accurate than the Jenny/Jennifer.

ETA: I know 3 baby Eleanors and only one goes by Nora. I've met 2 other baby Nora(h)s for whom it's a full name.

I had no idea it was a nickname. Ellie is an Eleanor nickname, never would have ever thought Nora(h)!

No, it's a stand alone name to me. I never considered it as a nn for Eleanor until someone suggested it on hb.

My sisters name is Norah, not short for anything.
