I voted girl because that was my immediate reaction (and I prefer it for a girl), but I think it can be a totally unisex name.

I love it for a boy and would use it if my DH would say yes

I've read and watched The Lying Game and one of the main characters is a girl named Sutton, so I think girl. But really I think it could be a boys name. It was on my boy list before we decided on T!

@PermaStudent: perfect! That's what I'm looking for...immediate reactions.
@Mrs. Chocolate: I'm kinda digging it, too! We would prefer it for a boy, as well, because we prefer less gender neutral names for girls.
@Danizaur: I love your little boy's name!

I think girl because of Sutton Foster (Broadway actress)
Eta: I do think it can go either way, girl is just my first thought because of the above association

I'd assume Boy, but it it was for a girl I would think it was cute! Seems like it could be unisex!

I think girl only because of the Lying Game. It could be a boy name though!

Immediate reaction was boy...but when I start to think about it I change to girl.

I think girl because I know a little girl Sutton in real life, and she's adorable!

I immediately though Girl, but that's because I've only heard it in connection with the Lying Game and Sutton Foster

I thought girl right away but definitely think it could be either. I just asked DH and he said boy but that it could be either.

My first thought was boy, but I like it for a girl as well!

I think boy!
I actually never heard it as a first name, I knew a few families growing up with it as a surname though!

I thought boy first because I had a student named Sutton who was a boy. But it sounds likes it's unisex!
