...ugh, it's so annoying.
I ordered a fancy new bathroom scale a few weeks ago, and last week it came. Yay! Yesterday I came home and found the exact same thing on my doorstep. Boo! I was only charged once, so they must have had some sort of packaging mix-up. Now I have to call customer service and have them pay for shipping to send it back, which is a giant hassle. First world problems, I know.

That only happened to me once, with a j crew dress that was on clearance. I figured it was their mistake, and they have such strict return policies on clearance anyway, that I have the extra to my same size roommate.

Dude, I'd keep it! lol! If they don't miss it, I call it a karmic gift. If you don't have room or use for it, give it to a friend or sell it on craigslist

Keep it, sell it or re-gift it! That sounds horrible I'm sure, but it's their mistake, and it doesn't seem worth the hassle...

This only happened to me once. A dress from MyHabit was lost in the mail. They refunded my money but then the dress came up on sale again. They price matched me original price and mailed it to me again. A few weeks later the original one arrived too!

I tried to send the extra back once, but they never picked it up, so now I have two Pottery Barn lamps. Score! I tried, so I figure no bad karma for me.

I'd feel worse about re-selling the duplicate than just using it or giving it to a friend. Which isn't very logical, but whatever.

I've had this happen a couple times... Once was a package I never got. They refunded me my money and then it showed up weeks later. It's happened twice recently - I got an Amazon order before Christmas that included an extra book. It was about Italian soccer so I sent it back. Also happened with Sephora - the box had my name/address but the contents weren't mine and just happened to be $55 foundation (WTF?!). It was a hassle to get the new order, request expedited shipping, etc. that I said F it and kept the foundation.

I usually try my best to mail it back, unless they specifically tell me to keep it. It's more because I'm afraid to get "in trouble" if the company somehow finds out, haha.

This happens to me every now and then and I just keep or sell the extra. Or I return it, if it's easy to do and keep the free item.

This only happened to me once, it felt like fate though. Three days before Christmas instead of getting my dad's I got a boxed set of DVDs for the show 24. Ten minutes after it arrived my aunt (who constantly does this type of thing) called and said she decided we should all exchange gifts after we had agreed to just do a fun lunch together, the good news was she loved 24. Amazon told me to keep it, overnighted me my dads gift and all was right with the world!

This happened to me at work. We were ordering new planners and they sent three of one kind instead of two. We ended up giving it to our new part-time helper.
