Did you do naps or night first? Rolled up towels and elevated? Cold turkey everything? I am so nervous! LO is 3.5 months, I should've done it weeks ago but she sleeps so well and I'm chicken. Any advice is appreciated!

We did the first part of the night for a week or two then brought her back to the RNP after her wake up. Then we'd put her back in the crib all night after a few weeks. This was at 6 weeks old. She began napping in the crib at 6 months old.

^ that was essentially what we did starting around 3.5-4 months. We did nights before naps, but he had been napping mostly in the swing. It took maybe 6 weeks of trying, but we didn't force the issue. Once he learned to roll really well he was cool with the crib.

We did naps first, then night time..... I was chicken too!! At might I would put him in the crib, and then when he woke up crying I would move to the RnP, first night he made it an hour, next night was 3 hours, then 6 hours, then all night!

We started at exactly 5 months. I had been putting him in his crib while awake since he was tiny so he'd kinda be used to it and it wouldn't be that strange. When we started transitioning, he'd sleep his long stretch (7-8 hours) in the crib and then we'd move him to the RNP for the rest of the night. After about 3 weeks, he began sleeping in the crib all night. It was a pretty easy transition for us.

Okay, I'm favoriting, as I'm expecting this LO to be in the rock and play for at least 3 months until big sister gets out of her crib!

We did it for nighttime first because naps have always been hell for us. The incline really didn't do us any good, the one thing I did do was purchased a minky sheet (and before it arrives I just used a minky blanket I had and tucked the edges in tightly under the mattress) so that it would have the same softness as the RnP.

@MamaChin: I'm right there with you. My LO is 9 weeks old and has been sleeping through the night for a while and it's been wonderful and I haven't wanted to mess with it......but I would really love him to be in the crib before I go back to work in 3 weeks......sigh!

We tried naps first and it was a total failure. She would just kick her legs up and slam them down and not fall asleep. And then she would spit up after awhile which traumatized me. What ended up working just by chance/luck was this: after a MOTN feeding she was just totally passed out so I swaddled her up and put her in the crib and walked out. She stayed asleep for the rest of the night and after that she was fine in the crib.

We transitioned from the cradle in our room to crib around 3 weeks. First I started with naps because she was basically napping anywhere at the time so I thought a new place wouldn't hurt. We did that for a few days then I started putting her down after her last MOTN feed in her crib, so from like 4am-7am. I did that for a few days, then fully transitioned. It only took about a week and she has been in the crib ever since. Good luck!
