I never heard anyone else on the floor during labor! I'm not sure if the room was just big enough + TV on + closed door that I didn't hear, or if all the other mothers (there were at least 3 others, I know) were just happily relaxing through labor with epidurals!

I couldn't hear anyone else either and I know they had a packed house! We didn't have the TV on and the door was open. Maybe the separation walls just have really good sound insulation? Which totally makes sense when designing a hospital!

I personally was pretty loud myself, but even after delivery, we were in the hospital for 2+ days and I don't remember hearing anyone else! Good soundproofing I guess?

The only thing I heard was the Doppler for eh lady next door. Poor thing was in labor for over 36 hours! DH talked to her husband in the hall and she was there for pre-e, then induced cervically, then given pitocin.
I was so excited when I realized I couldn't hear her Doppler anymore!

Nope! I spent my first 30 hours laborious at my midwife's birthing center where I was the only laboring woman. At the hospital, after I was transported, I didn't see or hear any other patients.

I heard them walking by in the halls. I was on constant monitoring, so no walking for me. One of the women that I got to know during NST's had her daughter the day before I did. She came by to say hello while we were both still laboring, and then I brought my baby over to her room to see how they were doing.

No, the rooms were large, private, and spaced far apart.

Just the banshee down the hall! And every now and then a couple of yells as a baby was coming out.

Nope! I was loud myself but the maternity wing was pretty empty. I think there was only 1 or 2 others there. Postpartum they move you to another area so never heard anyone then either.

I couldn't hear anyone (not that I was paying attention, but my husband remarked upon how calm the L&D floor was). I think they must have had pretty good soundproofing.

I think I heard some of the labors going on. I labored late at night, so the doctors and nurses were going in between at 2-3 other patients on my floor. Because of that, it took awhile to get my epidural. I also remember DH telling me that he met some soon to be grandparents in the waiting room who were there all day while their daughter labored the whole day.
I remember in my pp room hearing other babies scream. Soon after that, ours screamed so we were like every other new mom at that point.

I was in triage for 4 or 5 hours with two other women. I remember them moaning but I'm sure I was much louder. The triage nurse told me to stop moaning but I had been in labor for over 40 hours at that point and I didn't really give a crap what she or anyone else thought at that point. I walked the halls for an hour or two moaning as well.

When I was in triage for my first visit to the hospital we heard a woman screaming "GET HIM OUT OF ME! SERIOUSLY! GET HIM OUT!"
DH just looked at me like he was scared. Haha

Nope, everything was so fast with mine I couldn't focus on anything else. I don't remember hearing anyone else during my whole stay and I spent a lot of time walking from my room to the NICU and back. I know they were pretty empty when I was laboring, but by the end of the weekend they were packed.

In my hospital, the L&D and maternity wards are fairly separate... during my labor, I could hear other women, but only during the really "screamy" phase - sometimes I could hear newborn cries immediately after.
Once we were in maternity, though, I heard SO many babies crying all the time.

I couldn't hear anyone else while I was in labor. But I could tell by the monitors that someone had their baby and I was so jealous! 4 hours later I had mine though :). I did hear someone when I was there for an NST. Kinda freaked me out, lol.

Nope. But, being a loss mama, they put me far far away from anyone else.
I don't remember hearing anyone else with DS, but it was 6 years ago.

@Corduroy: how infuriating! Seriously, I've had several friends IRL tell me that at some point a doctor or nurse told them to stop yelling/moaning and I think that's completely ridiculous.

No but I'm sure they heard me. There were apparently 7 babies born within the same hour that N was born.

Nope, and it was a full house. I saw mommas walking the halls but no loud births!

With my first, I don't remember hearing anyone else. And they were packed to the brim with ladies(they didn't even have a bed ready for me and another woman when we arrived)
With my second, i was a scheduled csection. While I was waiting in my L&D room I heard woman screaming like crazy, and then a baby cry. I looked at DH and said 'that woman did not have an epidural!' Haha the nurse walked in and said 'well that was an effective push!'

Nope! I even asked if they were busy. When I first got there 10pm at night they said I was the only one they were wanting to be in labor. Others they were trying to stop. I asked about 10am and the nurse told me they were really busy. Ladies were pushing that got there after me. I was like am I going to be like Rachel in Friends....

Nope! I was in the hospital for 5 days and never heard anyone else.

YES! The hospital was full and you could definitely hear when walking the halls. From my room I remember in particular right as the Pitocin was started there was a woman screaming like she was being murdered. Honestly it was pretty terrifying but the midwife was with me and was like, don't worry it's not going to be like that for you. Very calming. I'm not sure if I could hear anyone else when I was in my room or if it was just when I was walking around.

when i was in there a week before for the flu, yes. when i was in there, i'm sure that i was the one people heard! i didn't hear anyone else when i was there.

Yes, at one point the woman in the suite next to me started screaming bloody murder. It was absolutely terrifying. It was like no screaming I've ever heard before. I think my face went stark white and I started to doubt myself a little when that happened,
I mentioned it to my nurse when she came back in the room and she said that I'd heard the last few pushes.
For a brand new L&D wing, you think they could have done a better job in the soundproofing!

I had to go to L&D just before Christmas and get IV fluids (thanks stomach flu!) and actually noticed how quiet it was. I don't know what I expected, but there were definitely patients there, and I heard nothing!
I was LOUD!
