Do you always try again?
My flan was a disaster (lumpy disgusting mess) and I'm not sure I'll try again!

Depends how horrible it turns out lol!
I remember the first time I made macarons. They were SO annoying and took forever and were driving me crazy... I was like "never again". But then they came out of the oven and looked sooo cute it all seemed worth it lol. I've made them 3 more times since.

If i did exactly as the recipe stated and it turned out to be a mess, then no!

i'll try it a second time, but usually with reservations! But if they flop again, then i give up on the recipe

oh how funny. I made flan for Thanksgiving and it tasted good, but the texture was a disaster. I know I left it in too long... It's a delicate dessert for sure. I tried it again for Christmas, and it was much better!
I try things again if I'm pretty sure I know what went wrong and what I need to correct for the next time. Otherwise, if something's too hard and time-consuming too, I move on!

I made choc mousse and it turned out awful!! I was so sad =(
But I tried again with a different brand of choc and it was perfect! So glad I tried again!!

I'll usually try it again.
If it's a dinner or something I'll order a pizza, though, and try again on another day.

@SAHM0811: Did you use a mixer? Did you let your eggs warm up a bit first? I'm a baking dummy!

@autumnlove: oh I just hand mixed... I think I let the eggs warm up to room temp a little. Did you use a steamer? I don't have one, so I put it in a pan of water and in the oven. I think the first time, I just left it in too long and temp was too high. When I did it again, I lowered the temp and checked really often til it was set. Annoying, but yeah, getting the texture right is the hardest part!

@Freckles: Me too! If I can't follow the recipe to the T and not have success, I'm moving on...
I'm having a lot of trouble with choclate these days. I've had two recipes where the chocolate seized up, even when I let everything come to the right temperature. I think there might be some user error there, but I can't figure out what it is.

Depends on how much work it is, but usually I'll try again.

If I eat it and know how an easy tweak here or there (more garlic, less spice, etc.) I'll try again. If it took a lot of time and was a total flop, it gets crossed off the list!

Usually I try again but I may use a different recipe if the first one wasn't from a very reliable source. I can't think of anything I have been really discouraged by although I do have my share of flops- I have thrown out lots of burnt sugar.

I'll try it again, but if the second time is a mess also - forget about it. Unless it's something I really, really, really, want to master.

Unless I am sure it failed because of something I did, I won't try it again.
