LO got hand, foot and mouth earlier this week from daycare. Now that she's getting over it I wanted to sterilize all her toys.
Took me almost 3 hours this morning to sterilize and reorganize all her toys. I took the chance to also purge some toys she hasn't played with in awhile. So of course she was playing with them as I pulled them out. 
When's the last time you sterilized all the toys?

Not for awhile! I should do this.
Btw - what's your method for sterilizing? I usually use a Clorox wipe and then wipe again with water, but I don't know if that's really the best way!

Never. We're not worried about germs in this house 
@locavore_mama That reminds me when my mom would clean/organize our playroom as a kid. She would try and get rid of stuff but we wouldn't let her. It was always an amazing 10 minutes seeing all our stuff nice and neat...till we destroyed it again ; )

about a month ago after LO was sick for like 3 weeks! I don't know if he could catch his own germs and get sick again from them, but i wanted to sterilize for when we have other babes over for play dates.

we never do unless LO drops them in the toilet or dog water bowl... we're just not germaphobes around here.

Ok, I feel better answering never, too, then, lol. I clicked on this and seriously thought I was going to be an outcast.
Actually, once when he was almost three, he pooped in the tub and it was a mess. I sterilized what I could, but ended up tossing out a lot of his toys. He's never done it since.

Never. I clean off things that come from yard sales, but I don't typically see the need to sterilize his toys.

Never have, but if I were in your shoes I would be doing the same thing:) Actually, I have been meaning to wash her stuffed animals and just haven't gotten to it yet!

a couple times....but we buy mostly used stuff so I wash it down before he plays with it for the first time.
but the big things get washed down every couple months like his play kitchen, shopping cart.

I don't wash off normal germs (from the house, yard, park, etc) but if Vi drops a toy in a public bathroom or something, I'll put it through the dishwasher on the top rack. Wood toys get a wipe, cloth ones go through the washing machine.

@sunny: Just hot soapy water for the small items and wiped the bigger items with lysol wipes then with water.
@bpcmarj: exactly. I don't want other kids that might come over getting HFM from here because I didn't sterilize seeing as how it's spread by saliva!
I'm actually really glad I did it! So many of her toys just had a slippery-ness to it from her stuffing it in her mouth all the time!

I wash things in hot soapy water pretty regularly. We have a dog so if he gets at something or she drops something I put it in a basket until I have a good pile and then I wash them all together. I don't like to use clorox or lysol. Stuffed toys get washed on the hand washable cycle when they look like they need it or they drop.

Never! I think I sterlized the few toys we got before he was born, cuz, you know, new mom and nesting and all that. Since then? Haven't even thought about it. Though we just bought a set of Duplo blocks from a yard sale, and I'll give those a bleach soak.
