I had to work late tonight so DH grabbed both girls and came home and made dinner. I don't know how he does it. But he can watch both girls, without turning the TV on, holding the 16m with one hand and still get a really amazing homemade from scratch dinner on the table. Me? I plan to reheat leftovers! 
When's the last time your SO watched the kid(s) solo? How did it go?

Oh he always does. I ran out to get dinner tonight.
Hair appt Friday. Massage Saturday. (I don't usually live such a luxurious life! DH has been swamped w work/studying and I've been solo parenting so im taking a mental health day!)
He does great. DS and DH are best pals.

I went to a work event last night. He took off work early to pick the kids up, fed the baby, and watched the State of the Union while holding the baby. He did well. For some reason he picked up dinner for himself but not for the toddler or me. He chose Chipotle so I'm glad he didn't buy for us before asking me but I thought it was odd to buy food for one person only.
Before that it had been a long time since he watched the kids.

Every day. I leave for work at 7:15am and J goes to preschool at 1pm a few days a week. DH has him from when I leave until he goes to school (I do pick up on school days) or until I get home.

He does every day. I work whenever he is not working, which means when he's not working he's watching all 3 kids! (Mornings from 9 to 1 or so.) Then I have them from 1 to 1130 pm. But he has never done naps/dinner/bath/bedtime by himself.

@Alba4: lucky! At DH's old job he had Tuesday's off and those were their daddy/daughter days. He really misses it.

@regberadaisy: my DH is the same we regarding no tv time and handling the kid while doing dinner or whatever else!
I work every other weekend so he is with J all day Saturday/Sunday. He does great. I always joke he is a better stay at home parent than I was!

He is a SAHD so all the time except I haven't gone back to work yet since having our second. I usually watched our first for a Saturday or Sunday by myself 1-2 times a month.

Every morning - he does the mornings until our nanny gets there / he has to drop DS off at our nanny share. He's awesome - he feeds them both breakfast, showers/shaves/gets dressed, gets DS dressed, and walks the dog. Sometimes they do watch a few minutes of SportsCenter

He does two mornings a week while he gets ready for work before the nanny arrives; the other 3 days a week he has the baby while he gets ready and I take the older one to daycare.
Other than mornings, he watched both girls for a day when I first started back to work. And he's about to have them both again MLK day, because I have work but he doesn't.

He takes them to swimming, Mandarin, and lunch every Sunday. Of course there are other times, but that's the biggest chunk of time.

He and LO1 do stuff alone all the time (either going out somewhere or staying home while I go out). LO2 is 7 weeks and he only has both of them for very quick periods like if I run to Starbucks. The baby is still nursing on demand so it's hard. Our older LO is in daycare and I have both kids alone from about 4-7 every night which is the toughest part of the day trying to do dinner and bath and getting ready for bed while the newborn wants to cluster feed. I don't think hubs realizes how much work it is.

DH does mornings, daycare drop off and pick up half the time, and bath/bedtime routine. But I prep all of DS' meals on a tray, pre fill all his medicine syringes, lay out his jammies and clothes, pack the daycare bags, and do the MOTN wakeups at the moment so it's sort of half prepped for him. They do really well together.

My husband watches the kids pretty frequently, but it's just for short periods of time. So sometimes if I go to workout for an hour, or I run to the store alone, or if I need a haircut he'll watch them. He can feed them and keep them happy, but he doesn't do anything beyond that. I'm not going to come home to a clean house or a hot dinner, but I'm okay with that.

@Truth Bombs: it will be SO satisfying to you the first time your husband watches both kids for a whole day. My husband did it for the first time the week I returned to work (he had some extra vacation time to use up, so he stayed with the girls), and I get home waaaay earlier than he gets home and he did not make dinner or anything I normally do, and he still said "I don't know how you do this. They are always crying at the same time or wanting to eat at the same time." I was like....FINALLY YOU GET IT. It was great.

Lately, a ton, because I am studying for a test to change careers so any free time is used for that purpose (we both currently work full time)
He's been doing bed time every night and watching her for long stretches on the weekends and evenings while I am studying.

Saturday! I was gone ALL day and it was amazing. It was the first time I've been gone that long since DD2 was born and it was so so nice. I didn't even really think about the kids once. And he did a little minor clean up too. I like won't get a day like that for a while.

He took one the other day on some errands so I could have a few minutes to myself. Running things solo during dinner time, hmmm, maybe he did that a couple of months ago? It hasn't happened often and while he usually gets them fed and cleaned up, I still have to come home and clean up after all of them.

At least once a week, if not more. I work 2 days a week and if DH is off , he has LO from wakeup until shortly after dinner time. They seem to have a lot of fun together but if like this week where it's been 3 days in a row due to life/work circumstances for me, he struggles . DH has told me several times he doesn't know how I do it. He is usually gone for work 4-5 days a week so I think it's good he gets a sense of what it's like to solo parent so much .

He normally picks up DS everyday from daycare and they normally are home before me. They have Sunday morning together while I sleep in. Also one or two evenings throughout the month or a weekend afternoon I try to get out by myself, even if it is just to go shopping.
They love their boy time and DS listens to DH much better than he listens to me.

All the time. He just watched them tonight while I went to the gym. He always seems to handle them better than me. They play nicely on their own when he watches them, and when I'm around they just follow me and bug me. lol

Last weekend! I slept in until 11 
He took both boys early on to the hospital when ds2 was getting blood draws for jaundice testing. He hasn't been out with both of them recently though

DH does it pretty regularly.. on average about once every other week. Him and his friends are really into craft beer, so they rotate beer tastings at each other's homes. They call it beer and daddy/kids night. Last Thursday it was at our place, so I went out to get a much needed massage! He also gets them ready every morning and does dropoff, and gives them baths every night.

Last weekend DH brought DD to one of those indoor playgrounds with giant slides. They food there, so they were gone for a few hours. I had something due for school and really needed some quiet time.

@Anagram: recently I left him alone with just the baby while I ran to the grocery store. When I got home he was literally standing in the doorway watching/waiting for me with a screaming baby. And he's actually a generally really helpful/involved dad (which I get the sense your husband is too) but he was still overwhelmed by the newborn crying! I don't know how women have multiple kids with husbands who are totally unhelpful. At least hubs has toddler care totally under control! He just works a lot

The other weekend when I ran to target. I wasn't gone long. He does ok with them but it's easier if he doesn't have both by himself. When I do leave the boys with him alone I make him a rough schedule the boys are on and snack/drink/meal ideas. He does just fine with them, just doesn't feel confident because he is gone so much with work and school.

@Anagram: @Truth Bombs: When my husband does have E alone, he deliberately aces it. He does laundry, makes dinner and sends me pictures from the fun stuff they did that day. I'm sure he does it on purpose to spite me! But its so, so rare because he works so much and is doing a million renovation projects in the house right now.
