Just got an email that ours is on 12/12. I've never gone to one during the week day before! And it's at 4. Not sure if I'll make it because DH might be working.
And we already have tickets for a hockey game that Monday. So yeah, childcare two nights in one week??

Friday the 13th (oooo!) from 7pm until you cat gang any longer. We'll leave by 11 so the babysitter gets home by midnight. Our first non family sitter!

Ours does a really fancy lunch before the holiday break. Think prime rib, pasta, all the sides and beer/wine. Then we have an annual party at the end of March.

Ours is to be determined. We are doing something at work that requires some of the field guys to work overnight so we want to wait until overnight shifts end so they can attend too. It probably won't be until Feb.

We have a catered lunch for everyone in the building, but our office goes out for a fancy dinner that the boss pays for.

We don't have holiday parties anymore. For people that work in one of our offices lunch is catered.

@locavore_mama: we haven't been told yet! There will be one for our division that I will have to make an appearance at, and then one big one for the whole university that I haven't attended in the past. Other events too, like a church service, a big holiday concert, etc.

I do miss dressing up to go to those holiday work parties! Maybe next year. I am a SAHM until May 2014.

Ours (dh and I work at the same place but I'm on mat leave) is on dec 7 for a potluck at a coworkers house and our smaller department, then dec 11 the large company party is on a boat but tickets are kind of expensive so we probably won't go, and then dec 15 they do a bring your kids in and socialize and have pictures with Santa thing so we'll probably go to that.
We work for the government so aren't allowed any employer paid parties. Fiscal responsibility and all that

Ours is usually in January... December is usually a really busy time in my office. Plus I think the mgt likes the lower rates at venues after the holidays...

My husband's company party is usually in early January (CEO is Jewish)- works out great bc you don't have to give up a weekend in December to go to a work function. It's always a lot fun - every other year they do a casino night with a raffle for prices at the end of the night.
This year my husband got a promotion...so since he's now a VP he's invited to the executive team holiday party...it's on the 18th (Wednesday night)

My work always has theirs on a Friday afternoon. They always let us stop working at 12 and go over to the restaurant for lunch. We get paid for the hours we are there. It's only employees
DH is always like the 2nd Friday in January for his company. His teams though is just a dinner at a nice restaurant on 12/20. I love his work parties, yummy food at nice restaurants!

@locavore_mama: we have to pay for ours too but I'm a teacher...the school district is definitely not going to pay for a holiday party for us. I've never gone to mine either but I've gone to DH's once.

@BabyMats: my company is owned my a bigger company, and they also charge for a ticket to their holiday party! I went once, wasn't worth the $50! But they have over 1,000 people go\pay every year though.

Ours is a 'winter ball' and they have it mid-January. It's usually really fun! Photobooths, casino games, tons of raffles, and an open bar.

we haven't gotten been told yet, but I'm guessing it'll be Dec 10 (it's usually a Tuesday in between the last day of classes for the semester and finals week <we're a university department>)

DH's holiday party is Nov 30th (a Saturday night) starting at 6:30 pm with cocktail hour and a formal sit down dinner at 7:30. It's in the grand ballroom at one of the main hotels downtown here so it should be nice. Being 30 weeks pregnant at the time, I of course have nothing to wear and we're also in a quandary with child care as the only people we know well enough to ask to babysit here are coworkers of DH or wives of his coworkers - all of whom will be at the party!

I really miss holiday parties - it was the one night a year I got to dress up!

Ours is the same day as yours. It usually involves going to a mediocre, nearby bar getting free drinks and food from around 4-7pm. My husband's party is a much bigger deal but I haven't gone in a few years. Two years ago, I was newly pregnant like a couple of weeks. Last year, LO was a couple of months old and we were in the middle of new parenthood.

@littlek: oh my, DH's sounds super swanky. At my last job it was always semi-formal too! I have no idea what the dress code is at this job.
DH is starting a new job on Monday but I highly doubt they do a official holiday party.
