My grandmother gave me one of her old dressers that was in great shape and dh and I refinished it

@locavore_mama: I think it's a malm. We like it so much we are going to get the same one for this baby. Its huge with very deep drawers.

Ikea, but I wouldn't recommend the specific one we bought for LO. DH and I have two other Ikea dressers that I love and want to switch out LO's dresser for one of ours.

We have two Ikea Hemnes dressers. The larger one is in our bedroom and the smaller one is our son's dresser / changing table.

Craigslist, but it's the Land of Nod Jenny Lind dresser they're still selling.

@mrsjazz: which is the one you didn't like and one's you do?
I know not all ikea is created equal!
@ElbieKay: do you like it? I like how the top row are small drawers!

Craigslist for $100. Can't remember the brand, but suffice to say $100 was a STEAL and it looked brand new!

We got the Ikea Hemnes one. We actually bought it on Craigslist and saved some money on it. I like that the drawers are really big and the height is great for a changing pad.

I don't like this one because the drawers are always coming apart. DH finally had to crazy glue them to stay together.

This is the one we have in our bedroom (we have 2) but I think they only make them in dark colors. I saw some great Ikea hacks where people use fabric or contact paper to add a pattern to the frosted dressers. We've had these for 6 years (through 2 moves) with no issues.

@catlady: @delight: Haha. That's the one I DON'T like! Maybe we just got a defective one! Looks great, but ours sucks.

@delight: @catlady: @ElbieKay: do you know what the difference between the white and white stain is?

Kid #1 off kijiji for $20. Sanded and refinished! All wood!
Kid #2 my childhood dresser.

We have the six drawer wide malm for the nursery bc we use the top as a changing area
For LO's big kid room we have the tall 6 drawer Hemnes dresser (two small drawers on top and 4 big drawers below). I didn't want a big wide dresser for her big kid room

Craigslist - $40 and I luuuuurve it! Solid wood and details I love. My Dad put a shiny new coat of paint on it.
ETA: My sister got an awesome one from Home Goods, but I never can seem to find what I'm looking for there at the right time!

@mrsjazz: Uh oh, one of the drawers on ours is kind of coming apart too. I assumed it was because we bought it used.
@locavore_mama: Not sure if you still want one now, but I think the white stain one kind of shows a wood pattern through the white. The one we have is just a solid color, I assume that one is "white."

Ikea, it's a bit small but we have plenty of closet space and draws in her changing table.http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40159837/
DD #1 dresser is from BRU

@locavore_mama: I didn't know there was a white stain one. Ours is just white. I guess the white stain may look more antique?
@mrsjazz: hah I saw it was the one you didn't like. We have never had any problems with the Hemnes dresser and we have a few of them. For LOs room it was the perfect height to use as dresser/change table. Sorry yours don't work out!

Not ours, but I think this is so gorgeous!! Not sure what brand it is but at $1200 it's way out of our budget. Snapped this picture at our mom and pop baby store.

We have the Ikea Hemnes - it used to be in our bedroom, but we bought a new dresser when we started ttc.

@locavore_mama: we went to look in person and the white stain looks more rustic - kind of like a more weathered look. The white looks like their regular white stuff...more like the white stuff in the malm line.
We bought the Birkeland bed from Ikea for her big kid bed and love it...it's a more finished look with molding. Unfortunately the line is not being renewed so the dressers are not available from that line on the west coast but they are available at some of the east coast stores. I loved those dressers but they weren't available to us

At our place? Ikea. Idk what it's called but its white. At grandmas house she has one we painted that was from her great uncle and then her dad!

Craigslist for $75 solid wood, DH refinished it and it works perfectly as a changing table and dresser.

Ikea malm -- It works great and stores a LOT of stuff, but I prefer the look of the hemnes! We got the malm for a steal though, when ikea had a sale last year.
I will say they take forever to put together
