@locavore_mama: We are happy with the Hemnes line from Ikea because it's solid wood. I personally would not want a wood veneer dresser. Ours is in gray-brown. We also have a Sundvik crib in the same color. I attached photos of the two pieces in the baby's room.
Apparently T's dresser is the 3 drawer chest. It's the perfect height for a changing table. I think the 6 drawer chest might be too high for that. We've had the 8 drawer dresser in our bedroom for about three years. It's held up through a move and still works great. I would have preferred to get another 8 drawer one for the baby's room, but we are space constrained in there.
Ikea furniture isn't fancy but we are not interested in buying expensive furniture right now. We have two kittens and a baby, and we live in a condo, so it doesn't make sense to spend thousand on furnishing our home.

I like Ikea's Hemnes as well, it's solid spruce and it's not that bad to put together.
My son's bedroom set is actually mine from when I was around 8 years old, so gah, it's 30 years old!

We also have the Ikea Hemnes dresser (the big one), and love it!! The fact it's 100% wood is great also. Took us about an hour to put together. We use it as his changing table also. It's a lil tall (I'm 5'2"), but not bad.

@mrsjazz: That's so funny b/c we have that one too and have had it for about 12 years and have moved it 3 times with minimal issues.
We have the other Hemnes dresser with the 8 drawers (the lower one) in DS's room. It was originally our tv stand in our small condo and now doubles as his changing table. You get used to it being a little higher than usual.

The smaller Ikea Hemnes dresser. Love it. We have used it as their changing table. Once they get a bit older, we'll probably add another one to their room.

We have the Ikea Hemnes 8-drawer in the nursery and will use it for a changing table. We have the smaller Hemnes in the guest room, which we'll use for DS's big kid room when we're ready to have baby #2 (advanced planning I know, considering DS isn't due until July )
