Craigslist! Probably not the route you are going for, but we ended up finding a really nice couch (from the house of a former fancy university dean, via a graduate student) for $200. Great construction and super-stylish. (I swooned a little bit when my husband found it.)

@Ms maths: So glad to hear you had luck on Craigslist! We are looking for a new couch right now, and I don't want to spend a lot of money on it since we have 2 dogs, and a LO!

Rooms to Go - not sure if they are even around anymore!

We got them 10+ years ago - DH wants new ones but I told him not until the kids are older and stop spilling stuff on them!

We got ours at Macy's...we've only had it for a few months but it is stylish and wasn't too expensive...I think with the delivery fee it was around $850.

Yikes, just looked at the site and now it's selling for $1099. They often go on sale though!! We definitely did not pay that.

Bobs - you can get the goof proof protection as well if anything happens to it.

For a couch in that price point I'd try Rooms to Go or wait for a sale at Macy's, which is where we bought our couch. My first real couch came from R2G and I loved it. If I could have afforded the matching pieces at the time I would probably still have the couch.

We have a sectional in the play/media room from IKEA.
The living room sofa is from Crate and Barrel.
They're fine but nothing to write home about.
Both have removable covers which I really like with the kids.

Macy's!

@Jackiedavis87: they don't make the one I have anymore, it's at least ten years old. It's a modernish chesterfield with down wrapped cushions.

CL, but it's one they sell at Macy's, just a discounted color. I super love it. Living spaces has some nice couches also.

We've gotten our last two from Frontroom Furnishings just north of Cincy. They have a huge selection.

A local store. We spent about $1200 but I wanted something that would last a long time. We've had it for 5 years and it still looks new!

Ashley Furniture

We had a sectional from Ashley that lasted us 5yrs and was still in great shape when we sold it before our move.
We have a RH couch and chair in our living room. Well made and comfy! I don't plan on changing out our furniture for a very long time.

We bought our sectional from a local furniture store that custom makes all of their furniture in state. We paid about $2,000 for it.

@Jackiedavis87: haha. We have the C&B lounge in our playroom. It's awesome for a TV room - probably too deep for a regular sitting couch if you know what I mean. It's also ginourmous so make sure you measure your door openings. I had to have it dissembled to get it up the stairs

@Madison43: we're big tv people so laying down cuddling is our thing lol, and I wanted a couch that we could lay side by side on. If you don't mind me asking do you have the microfiber or Taft material and what color? All I need it to fit through is the front door and one wide hallway! I've measured 4 times sooooo I hope I measured right lol.

We bought our huge sectional at Havertys! I previously had a R2G couch and it didn't last even 4 years (no kids!) before the springs got bad and the stuffing deflated

This one was just about $2000 but is basically 2 full size couches that seat 6!
