We've had too much snow already and I think I need to get some snow boots. Looking at getting a pair of Sorels but they are pricey.... I've seen them on Gilt but the pair I want always sell out so quickly and I've unsubbed from all shopping sites.

I bought my Sorels at a sports shop, but I think Zappos and REI has had some good deals on them! DH got his Sorel-like boots at a Bass Outlet shop.

Zappos, full price of course. But I live in Boston and walked to the train for my commute so I was willing to pay full price for exactly what I wanted to wear every day from dec to march. I ended up with Patagonia.

I don't know what the climate is like where you are, but here in Canada paying extra for good boots is worth it! I love Sorels.

DH bought me some North Face snow boots at Marshalls for $50. We don't get snow too often though, so I am not sure how well they hold up but they are very warm and haven't let any moisture in. I love the look of the Sorels though.

@Mrs. Bee: I got my sorels on piperlime on a Cyber Monday a few years ago - plus used my BR rewards, so I think the total was $70 or something after all the discounts. Definitely worth it though, and I don't walk everywhere like you do!

I bought my Uggs winter snow boots online at full price. They were expensive, but I've already worn them for 3 or 4 seasons and they still look brand new - so the cost isn't so bad when you think long term (and I wear them almost every day for 4-5 months at a time!)

i have two pairs of sorels. Joan of Arctic Mid Wedges for lesser snow days and when i wanna wear "cute" shoes in the snow. also have the Sorel Tofino for heavy duty snow days. bought the joan of arctic mid-wedges directly from the sorel website because my size was sold out everywhere, and paid full price. i bought the tofinos from victoriassecret.com and they were slightly at a discount (right before winter season hit). i feel overall they're a good investment and don't mind paying full price. i love stepping in huge slush puddles without worrying about ruining my shoes, clothes, or getting wet socks.

My husband and I have Sorels that are 6 years old, we wear them all the time and they seriously look brand new. He just said the other day that he wouldn't be surprised if we never bought a new pair of snow boots for ourselves, again. They are so warm and stay so dry. If you can find what you're looking for, I would go for them! Ours are either from zappos or piperlime, but looks like they have a decent selection on Derailed.

@Mrs. Bee: I need a pair of snow boots too for our brutal Chicago winter. But I know that by the time I buy a pair, winter will be almost over, haha. I've been getting by with my Fuggs (faux Uggs from Target), but they get wet and cold

@Mrs. Bee: I'm coming to NY the end of the month through early February and I am freaking out looking at the weather over there. I'm in Seattle so I'm a cold weather wimp and don't have use for winter boots so I started a thread and people said it could get by with some Hunter boots and cold weather socks (rated by Alaskan fishermen). I'm so scared of all the snow!

I think I got my Sorels last year from Rue La La or Moosejaw on sale. They were around $100 - Joan of Arctic. In case you're considering Sorels or any other heavy duty winter boots, I recommend trying them on in the store even if you plan to order them online just to get a sense of how heavy they might be. I love my boots because they're great in the snow/ice, but they're so heavy! I wore them today and my back is killing me!

@Meridian: my uggs got ruined this winter! not made for snow at all. it's snowed so much already and with kids, i really need snow boots since they both loooove playing in the snow.
i'm on a self imposed shopping ban so i haven't been able to peruse the daily deal sites, but sorel comes up pretty regularly!
@sandy: i've been wearing my hunters and my feet have been freezing! but i don't have the extra thick socks which make a huge difference. you should be ok.

@betsyboop: yah i got charlie some sorels and they are soooo heavy. so i love the joan of arctic style, but am gonna go with a mid calf height since it will be lighter. looking at the 1964 premium but hard to find my size!
