More specifically the cribs & dressers. I'd like to be able to go to a store and look at them but sadly all the places that I know of around here are Wal-Mart, Target, Shopko (not much there). I'd have to travel 2 hours to get to any decent shops. I don't want anything fancy but would like to get 2 of the 4-1 or 3-1 convertible crib. We only need one dresser. Not sure if we will have room for a chair in the nursery 
Looking at spending aprox $300/crib and maybe $300 on the dresser.

We got a hand me down dresser, but the crib was from a local baby furniture store. I did find it online and just went to confirm I liked it in person. It's Pali brand.

We got the crib at babies r us, and dresser at a local antique shop.

Ikea. But I also found some really good options at Wal-mart. They were sold out of the crib we were going to get by the time we got around to buying.

6 hrs away??!! I'm pretty sure we could be in France in 6 hrs (by train). We would pass a fair few Ikeas on the way. Your country is just too huge!!

@Sugar.Biscuit: we have twin girls and bought two 3-1 Babyletto cribs, 1 dresser, and a changing table. their furniture is pretty reasonably priced and I think they're carried at Target & Walmart stores.

We bought ours at a local furniture store but also looked at Babies R Us. Ours is a stand alone store and they had a really good selection, plus you can use 20% off coupons which always helps!

I bought the Baby Mod Olivia crib from Walmart online and paid the extra $10 shipping (it was heavy!). Baby Mod is under the parent company Million Dollar Baby, which makes Babyletto and DaVinci. You can easily buy a regular dresser that matches and put a changing table on top to save money.

We have the Jenny Lind crib (we registered for it at Target, and my MIL bought it on Amazon because the shipping was better). Our dresser/changing table is the low dresser from my grandparents' bedroom set--my dad is painting it white. Our rocking chair is actually the one my parents used with me!

@Sugar.Biscuit: have you checked out the Baby Mod stuff that walmart sells online? You can get free shipping to the store. We got a crib and mattress bundle that was 300, I think. Looks high-end and has held up great. We did go with Ikea for dressers, but I know they sell some in the Baby Mod line too. The same manufacturers make Babyletto for other retailers but slap a higher price on it.
