We have mantle-less fireplaces and I'm not sure where I should hang our $1 stockings (just for stocking stuffers) from Target. Where did you hang your stockings? Can your LO reach them?

We don't have a mantle either!
We'll be using command strips and a felt ball garland to gussy it up.

They're hanging from the garland I strung on our TV table.

@locavore_mama: I want to get nice stockings like yours...maybe next year!

I love the idea of hanging stockings at the end of the parents' bed...kids run in in the morning and everyone cuddles together in bed to open stockings before heading to the tree. We will probably do this!

I was super bummed that we don't have mantle in our new house! Here's what we came up with for stockings (a side table by dining table - open floor plan so can see from living room still)

@mediagirl: I love that, your room looks so festive!
We dont have a fireplace and most of our "walls" are floor to ceiling windows so I'm thinking of buying suction cups and sticking them to the window for the stockings. Totally jealous of those with fireplaces!

We hung them on our stairs banister. We don't have a fireplace, though we can't wait til we have our forever home with one!

I hot glued a garland and our 4 stockings onto the wall. I am super classy like that!

We hang ours on the stair banisters as well. We have a mantle but it's really thick and curvy so the various stocking hangers don't work. I really need to get teacup hooks to attach the underside!
It's a nice alternative decoration for the banister though.

We don't have a mantle in our current place so we hang them on the stair banister that goes from our front door up to our dining room (we're in a garden-style co-op right now).

No fireplace here, either. I hang the stockings on a tall bookshelf. They're not at all heavy, so I just tucked their loops under some heavier books. They're fine there until they're filled, at which point they'll be on the floor.
@mediagirl: Your Santa tree fence is fabulous! Such a clever idea.

Here's a pic from last year. I'm not done decorating this year, but it'll pretty much look the same.

@autumnlove: We have a random shelf hanging in the dining room (it was there when we bought the house) so I hung ours there. I did make this garland with clothespins last year for Christmas cards, but it would work well for stockings, too!

We hung them from the stair banister as well, from big fancy bows.

@mediagirl: Um, your Christmas set up is BEAUTIFUL!
Ours are hanging from monkey hooks above our TV, next to the tree. They are WAY out of LO's reach. They were hanging on the ledge on our wall (we live in a garden style apartment) but she yanked one off so up they went.
