I've heard of Smocked Auctions and Lolly Wolly Doodle. Are there other sites you recommend? I want to get R some cute smocked dresses for special occasions.

Vive La Fete, Zulily, southern department stores (Dillard's, Belk), The Best Dressed Child, Shrimp & Grits Kids. Mostly I stock up at local stores when I go back home to visit my parents, though
ETA: I generally hate Zulily, but you can get some great deals on smocked clothes if you don't need it quickly.

I don't have a daughter, but I've seen some cute, albeit expensive, smocked dresses at Janie and Jack.

I've gotten my niece some from Zulily
My aunt finds them at consignment shops and goodwill. Dressy clothes in resale are usually in pretty good shape considering kids don't really wear them very often before outgrowing them.

I'm not buying dresses, but I get smocked boys' clothes (rompers, john johns, bubbles, etc) from Zulily, The Best Dressed Child, Hiccups Children's Boutique (online - smaller selection but can have some good deals), Belk/Dillards (if you live in the South), and a local consignment shop. I think smocked clothes are one arena where the prices on Zulily actually tend to be a good deal!
