We keep it out in the open. DD stays away from it even though it is motion sensored so you'd think she would be attracted to it.

We had one out in the open but we both hated it. We recently renovated our kitchen and now have one in a slide out cabinet.

@Andrea: we used to have one of those! i loved it! i put eyes on it & we named it... the movers left it behind when we moved =(

we have ours out in the open. it's a stainless rectangular one with a foot pedal. we can't put one under our sink because out garbage disposal unit takes up too much space under there, and we don't have a pantry to hide it in.

Ours is out in the open. I don't like the under the sink ones, because I have always found garbage accidentally misses the can and makes a mess.

Ours has always been out in the open. DS was starting to crawl over to it a lot right before we moved. I think it'll have to go in a closet or something once we get into our new house.

Out in the open. I wish there was somewhere to hide it, or even a nook to tuck it in, but the kitchen is just to small.

Ours is out in the open. Like @Grace: our house is tiny. Our kitchen doesn't even have a pantry.

Ours is under the sink. I prefer having a smaller one tucked away because it means we take it out more frequently and there's less of a chance for things to get stinky. Once we remodel we might consider adding a pull out cabinet to store the trash and recycling in.
