Where do you place the camera in your nursery?
Our nursery is Montessori, so LO potentially has full access to the room. I'm figuring that 1) I want to put the camera somewhere she can't reach it and 2) I'd ideally like to put it somewhere where I can get the best possible view of the whole room.
I was thinking of possibly using heavy-duty velcro to stick it to the wall high up somewhere.
Where do you put your video monitor camera?

It was on the corner of the crib with velcro but once we lowered the crib and she was pulling up, it is now on the wall with a nail and velcro.

We had an armoire in the room (no closet) that was perpendicular to the crib. It was up there.

It's mounted to the wall next to her crib and looks down at the crib. The rest of her room is to the left so we can pan it over if necessary. Here's the current view:

Corner of the room above the door with heavy duty command strips. Good view of crib and can rotate the camera to see the rest of the room if ever needed.

Ours has a nail hole in the back for mounting it on the wall. The view looks very similar to what @lawbee11 posted.

We got a camera that broadcasts to an app on our phones and lets us reposition it. So we're going to point it so the best view is at the crib, but it should be able to move around the room well.
It has 2-way sound too, so I'm fully expecting DH to randomly talk to me in the middle of the day from work just for fun

I would worry the most about how you are going to plug the camera in and keep that cord safe first. Let that kinda decide how to mount it.

@yellowbird: For us the outlet is on the same wall as the camera and her crib is up against that wall, so it runs between the crib and the wall.
@Littlebit: We have a Foscam & use the FoscamPro app.

@lawbee11: I looked into that one, but heard it's pretty tricky to install...did you have a problem with that? My husband and I can manage phones/computers ok, but we certainly aren't tech savvy.

@Littlebit: No clue, DH did it all! (and its not done yet) But he is a software developer, so I wouldn't trust his definition of "tricky". I remember him installing a similar one for his sister and had some issues getting it to work on Wifi though.

@Littlebit: My DH is pretty tech savvy so he handled it. He was able to do it easily/quickly, but if I had to do it I'm not sure if I could have. I think I remember reading an Amazon review that had pretty detailed instructions re: the easiest way to do it. There are some baby monitors (I think Motorola has one) that allow you to have iPhone viewing, but they are way more $$$.

@T.H.O.U.: @yellowbird: I figured I could run the cord across the ceiling and then behind a piece of furniture to plug it in (stapling the cord to the wall all along the way so it can't be pulled and use one of those outlet plug cover things). I might even screw a hole through a wall and plug it in to an outlet in our bedroom

@yellowbird: I think my DH put in an outlet close to the ceiling where he wanted to install the camera.

@pui: If you're moving in a year then I wouldn't worry about the cord...it's only a safety concern once your LO is mobile or can pull up and reach for it.

@lawbee11: Well, I think I'll still staple it just to be extra safe. Plus it'll look nicer if I staple it along the edges of the ceiling

Ours is mounted on the wall above the crib, with the same view as Lawbee. The wire is pulled across to the corner and tacked/taped down. She can't reach it there now, but I am afraid it's a matter of time. The wire used to just run straight down and it was tacked down, but she started plucking at it once she could stand up.

Mounted the corner where the wall meets the ceiling which is almost directly over his bed and we can pan his entire room. Our camera came with mounting hardware.
The only issue is the cord goes down along the wall to plug it in, and J loves to pull the cord out.
