My kids climbed a big tree that had fallen down on a nearby beach, and the whole time I was worried that they would fall. But my son is 6 1/2, and I'm sure lots of kids climb similar trees all over the world. I feel like I *should* just let him climb trees, but then I looked at how high up he was and it made me anxious. So I hung out under him, and was surreptitiously waiting to catch him if he fell. Obviously not a sustainable strategy for the rest of his life.

After thinking about it for a while, I decided that I'm ok with him climbing up about 6 feet or so (basically, he can climb as high as his age in feet ha). Any more than that and I would worry that he might fall, and that a fall would be really harmful. I worry less when it's on a beach tho, and he's falling onto sands and not rocks.

What do you think - where do you draw the line (or not) on kids climbing trees?
