There are lots of ways to do it-- for smaller kids I really like to use photographic organization tools. Take pictures of the things that go in a certain bucket or place on the shelf, and tape the picture to where the items belong. It helps with clean-up, and also can help insure that if you are using buckets, or some other sort of storage where things aren't as easily visible, that they are not black holes. The child can identify what he is looking for using the picture, and find it more easily. You can use them for shopping, or as a place for a doll to sleep, or as a cave for an animal to live in...

Can you hang the pots and pans on the wall behind or next to the play kitchen? Maybe with command hooks? I like the idea of shelving for the food... like a store!

We just bought a basket that's lined and put it all in there. It works well for us!

@winniebee: So I would get the baskets, and put the picture in a pocket on the side of the basket. You can get those little plastic protector sleeves.
