We are looking to replace all the appliances in our kitchen with new stainless steel. We like to cook so quality is important.

What are your tips for finding a good deal? Right now we'll probably just keep our eyes out for a good sale at either Lowe's or Home Depot (last year we bought a washer/dryer at HD's black Friday sale).

Do you have a brand that you love/hate? Our house has really old mismatched appliances, so I don't know where to start. We have a compact kitchen so my dream of Viking range and Sub-zero fridge (and separate wine fridge) are sadly not a reality at this point.
