I am running behind and I need to get some pictures of LO printed for gifts. I usually use MPix and I'm happy with the quality but I don't think that is going to make it in time.
What's the best photo lab to print professional photography? We don't have a Costco membership so that's not an option. Is Walgreens/Walmart/Target all the same? Should I try finding a local photography lab?

I usually print at Walmart and don't have an issue with them. Although I'm usually doing the instant prints, which are only 4x6. Not sure how their other sizes are.

Walmarts come out pretty nice, you can do all different sizes, and do it online then go pick up in store same day!!

I hate hate HATE Walgreens. They screwed up my pictures so bad. You could try Target as well, the quality is pretty good. Rite-Aid is okay as well.

For snapshots, I have no problem with most drugstores/discount stores. But for pro pics that are going to be gifts, I would definitely try to find a local lab. I found a good one right by where I work just by googling, and there is s noticeable difference in quality, particularly for anything larger than 4x6.
ETA: the lab I use has an online upload system, too, so it doesn't take any more effort than the other places. It just takes a day or two to process rather than one hour, unless you want to pay a (pretty big) premium.

I had pics printed at Walgreens where you start the job at home online and then pick them up at the store. The pits!
I'd take them to a FedEx/ Kinkos store.

I love the Walgreens by my house. The quality is excellent. It really depends on your store and their equipment! Maybe send a test print to each to see what you like best?

For pro photos, I would definitely use a local lab over a one-hour place. Your photographer might be able to recommend one.

@Finfan: Not sure why I didn't think of that! I asked her and she had a recommendation. Let's just see how pricey/fast it is.
