Hi bees, looking for suggestions for San Diego! I’ve overwhelmed about where to stay. We have two kids (3&5) and I will be about 27 weeks pregnant. I’ve been looking at VRBO and AirBNB but there are so many options!! Anybody have any recommendations?? Thanks!

I lived there for 6 years (in La Mesa) before my first move to Hawaii. I am certain that there are many ladies on here who could afford you a bevy of choices better than mine. With that stated, here are my suggestions: Coronado is nice by the silver strand and you would be fairly close to Baja. Also LaJolla has some ritzy places to stay and is by the beach. If you go further north into Temecula, there are many b&b's and wineries galore. Downtown SD has a lot to do and isn't terribly far from the beach but traffic is a beast heading in and out of the city. Escondido has beautiful mountains and one can go hiking and what not. I hope my suggestions are even remotely useful.

We stayed at the Manchester Grand Hyatt not too long ago. It was a good location for us. And it was easy to get to Coronado and LaJolla from there.

@QBbride: San Diego bee here! I'd love to hear more about the kinds of things you're planning to do so I can give suggestions on location. If you're mostly interested in Zoo/Balboa Park/Beaches, somewhere close to downtown would be best. Will you have a car? La Jolla is a neat place to visit (Seal Beach, lots of good restaurants, etc.), but I'd guess prices on hotels and property rentals are insane there . If you're planning to go to Legoland and parks/beaches, you might want to locate yourself in North County so you can more easily get to those places. Happy to help give suggestions once I know more:-).

@ChiCalGoBee: thanks! We are thinking we will do sea world, Legoland, zoo, safari (?). Oh and beaches if we have time. Lots of the touristy stuff! I found an Airbnb for $240/night in La Jolla but was hoping to spend more like $200/night if possible.

Another SD resident here. Depending on the area of La Jolla, the rush hour traffic can be really bad. La Jolla Cove is definitely worth a visit.

@QBbride: that location in La Jolla looks fantastic and assigned parking is a huge plus. You can easily plan your days to avoid the worst of rush hour traffic.

But now I have the possibility of a new job and I don’t want to book the trip but then find out I can’t get the time off. Wahhhh.
