When we found out we were pregnant with DS we were over the moon, walking on air happy. I have the faintest squinter and will check on a FRER later, but I am guessing this is it. Maybe because it won't feel real until a digital/positive FRER, but DH pointed out it is also because with #1 you have no idea what you're in for and with #2 while you may have wanted it (we did!) you know all that it entails. Were you as excited about #2 as #1? Did it take a bit longer to sink in? Did your excitement grow once it felt more "real"?

As excited? No. Still over the moon? Yep! I think I am a whole lot more nervous this time around which is hindering some of the excitement. It also doesn't feel real yet, like I am just pretending.

I freaked. Ha. Not in a good way. I anticipated having more time to get 'ready' buy got a BFP on first cycle!
I started to get more excited after my first ultrasound.. Then was really happy after NT scan. It just took a little to wrap my head around O not being my only anymore and my fears of loving another!

It hit me earlier-I was too nervous with E to really accept I was having a baby for a long time. Too many losses, too many visits to MFM. This baby, everything was "normal", and it's been so strange. Excited still, but more nervous because two is a whole other ballgame! But then I have E to distract me, so it goes by faster

I was just as excited with my second pregnancy, but I lost that one and it really affected how I felt about my third. I was just very, very relieved to get my third
and even at 25 weeks I'm not sure I'm excited.... But obviously I want the baby very, very much.

I got very excited and then kind of forgot about it for a while. Running after #1 and moving took up most of my brain space. Every once on a while I'd so and be like.... Oh yeah there's a baby in there.

Yep just as excited, but def more cautious and surreal after experiencing a chemical a couple mknths before!

We TTC for over a year for #1 and experienced a m/c during that time. Like @blackbird:, I was super nervous during my entire pregnancy and never really relaxed until he was in my arms.
This time, I was 12 months pp when I found out I was pregnant again. It was our first month kinda TTC (we were half-heartedly preventing) and I was shocked to say the least. Happy, but very shocked. It still doesn't seem real now, even at 21 weeks. I guess I don't have the time or energy to focus on the pregnancy 24/7 like I did last time. I'm still excited! It's just different

Definitely more nervous after a serious reality check with our first LO being so colicky. I felt even more attached though because I knew that someday I would love #2 as much as I love DD. It was different to go through a pregnancy emotionally as a "mom" rather than as a "mom to be" if that makes any sense.

Honestly, not as excited. I'm stoked to have two, and look forward to a lot, but the knowledge definitely makes a difference! My daughter was an AWFUL sleeper until 15-16 months, and even still does not sleep through the night every night. Another potential year of intense sleep deprivation is intimidating!

I was very excited! I think it helped that it was a different gender and I've always wanted a little girl!

I was shocked that it happened so quickly, but definitely excited. And I enjoyed every bit of pregnancy more because I already knew the kind of love that was coming.

I was excited because we had been trying for a few cycles, so when I finally got the BFP, it was really exciting!

I know exactly what you mean! We are planning to try this Autumn/Winter and although I'm excited for E to have a sibling I feel nothing but dread when I think about having another baby. I suspect my eventual (hopefully) BFP will be met with the same reaction as yours - a bit like getting your driving test date through the post! You really want the licence but if you know you have to do the test and its so stressful!

Yes! Maybe because it still took us long? We worked hard for her! And we both really want more than one.

No because we were actively preventing and it was quite the shock! I wasn't upset just surprised. But even with DD, it took me a while to really invest in the pregnancy and be real to me, so it's not surprising that it's the same this time. I think maybe after my next couple appts (I'm 9 weeks now) it will feel more like, yay, this is happening!

I was actually more excited with my second. LO1 was a first cycle success and I was afraid of how people would respond to the news since we hadn't told anyone we were trying. It also didn't help that DH freaked a little. LO2 took almost 6 months of anticipation and disappointment and I was so relieved and happy that cycle was it.

No, I was genuinely shocked when I found out I was pregnant with DD. But this pregnancy came immediately after an early miscarriage and I felt/feel really scared about that happening again. I've got about 10 days to go until my first ultrasound but I'm hoping to feel better after that.

It's a different kind of excitement, but we are definitely as excited. Ttc took longer... We were just starting to think it really might not happen, at least not without some help. So when we saw that second line, in the middle of not our best day or week, we just were so happy.

NOPE. I had decided that I was done, that after three years of not preventing it just wasn't going to happen, and that I was ready to go back to work, really focus on my fitness gains, and to just move on. I told my husband this and he was just heartbroken - he was so sad at the thought of not having a second. So, I told him that I would think about it and try to be more open to another. Boom, pregnant the next month.
I was initially so pissed. Like, really? I have to lose all this fitness and be pregnant for 10 months and then nurse a baby all night for a year? I was excited about the prospect of another child, but the hard baby stuff and the pregnancy part just seemed so overwhelming. Thankfully I've had a really easy pregnancy so far (23 weeks, so give me time), I've still been able to exercise and even improve my fitness to a certain extent. I'm not uncomfortable at all right now, even, so that's really helping. I've also gotten really excited about having a baby, way more than I expected to. It was disappointing to see the job I wanted post over the winter and to not apply, but it'll come around again in a few years.
I was always excited about the long term prospect of having another kid, but the short term hard work was really not appealing. Now I'm getting pretty excited, though.

Shocked to say the least. It took over a year for #1, #2 happened the first month off BC and we weren't going to start trying until the next month. I thought we had a year! I also do not enjoy being pregnant, and don't have super easy pregnancies, so all that came flooding back also.

I was definitely more excited. With my first, even though we were trying, my main reaction initially and throughout, was panic.

More excited, because I knew what was coming (all blessings). Unfortunately we lost that baby, and the one after, but if we're ever that lucky again, we'll be just as excited all over again.

Yes, we were just as excited. We waited 3.5 years to TTC after we had our first LO and got pregnant that first cycle. We were so ready for another LO and when we saw that positive test, we were over the moon.

Excited? Yes. As excited? No. Once the initial shock of a surprise pregnancy wore off, we got more and more excited. The thought of having 2 only 15 months apart made the excitement take a little longer.

I was originally very excited about the idea but expected it to take a while and had actually decided I wanted to wait just a bit longer. When I found out I was excited but also kind of sad because I knew things were going to change so much and I didn't feel ready. I can't say I was less excited than with LO1 because I got pregnant with him soon after a miscarriage so I was more nervous than excited. Now that we have both I am SO happy that it worked out this way and would not have changed a thing. -
@sarac: Pregnancy and health complications early on forced me to turn down a job offer and cancel a job interview... I was finally starting a career after extra school and PT work in another field out of college, then stay at home motherhood. It wouldn't have been my dream job, either one of them, but it was a start so that was exciting. Hope you get it next winter!

I was more excited then my first! My first LO was a surprise and we definitely weren't ready so it took me a few weeks to get used to the idea. Plus I had a high rate of miscarriage so I didn't want to get too attached. My second bfp I was very excited because we had been trying to 12 months and nothing had happened until then - that one ended in miscarriage though. My third pregnancy I got more excited as the weeks went by and no sign of miscarriage. Am currently 22 weeks and can't wait for LO to meet her little sister
This bfp took us a total of 15 months of ttc and I was actually about to undergo fertility testing so it was awesome timing in the end!

Like @MrsF:, I had a super colicky first LO, so when I got my second BFP, I was excited but also super nervous about repeating the experience of those first few months. That fear definitely tempered my excitement. I went into first-time parenthood with hilarious naïveté, and knowing how very hard things CAN be in the newborn stage made me dread it a little bit.

I was, but it was a more tempered excitement. We weren't expecting to get pregnant the second we stopped preventing, and I sort of freaked out as I wasn't totally prepared to be pregnant again whilst still nursing an 11 month old. I spent a lot of my pregnancy fluctuating between being super happy about having siblings close in age, and being so sad that I wasn't going to be able to focus all of my attention on DD1 anymore. Then of course it was so much harder being pregnant whilst chasing around a just turned one year old, which made me grumpy about being pregnant, which then made me feel guilty and like a terrible mum...
So yeah, I wasn't as excited but that all evaporated the second DD2 arrived

It was a different sort of feeling. I was super excited for LO1, and was pretty excited/nervous the second time, but it ended in a CP. So I felt mostly nervous but also very happy it happened again so quickly and we didn't have to wait a long time. Now I am crazy excited!

Definitely excited, but mixed with a lot more trepidation since I know all the challenges that will come with it too and the idea of two kids is somewhat terrifying.

Our first was a total surprise, I found out I was pregnant while I was i basic training for the Air Force. Was not expected at all. Baby #2 has been planned and we've tried since our LO was 2. After 3 years, unexplained infertility, a lot of heartache and disappointment I want to say I'm so excited but I'm hesitant. I think the excitement will kick in full force once we get passed week 12.
and even at 25 weeks I'm not sure I'm excited.... But obviously I want the baby very, very much.
