DH bought me some Frye boots for our 5th anniversary, and got the color I've been wanting - Cognac. However, I see a different color on sale ($200 cheaper) - Dark Brown Brush Off. Which color would you keep/prefer/wear more often? The cost of the Cognac is what's really pushing me to exchange them for the Dark Brown instead.

I have those boots in cognac and just love them. It's a beautiful color, and it goes with everything. For $200 though, I may settle...if you'd just be saving for a cognac boot eventually though, I'd keep them now.

I have brown and cognac boots. I got the cognac boots second and pretty much wear them exclusively now. The color just goes better with soooo many more outfits.

People on here seem to be into cognac, but I prefer more muted colors like dark brown and black (of course). I prefer boots that say "boots," instead of boots that scream "BOOTS!" So I prefer the dark brown, but that's just my opinion! All Frye boots are lovely.

I would keep the cognac! They can go with anything. The dark brown are cute but I would not wear them with black like I would the cognac.

If money is not an issue, keep the color you like best. Personally, I like the dark brown more but it's all up to your preferences!
Money is a big deal for us so I would keep the cheaper but that's for us. If DH wanted you to have the cognac because it's what you wanted, I think it's understandable to keep them.

Do you keep that $200 to do what you want? I like cognac better too but with an extra $200 I could be buying another pair of boots, a coat, etc!

Cognac times a million. I dont even like the other ones. I have cognac boots and wear them all the time with black leggings. I wouldnt do that with dark brown ... Happy anniversary!

Personally, I would go with with dark brown, but since it was a gift I think you should keep the ones you really want.

I'm more of a dark brown kind of girl and for $200 I would def get the cheaper one. I would use the money for other things

Oh man I've been wanting cognac boots, but $200 is a big difference! What about keeping the dark brown and then using part of the savings to buy a cheaper cognac pair too?

Definitely the cognac. Way more versatile. Don't feel bad.....you'll wear them for the next 10 years!

$200 cheaper! You could find another pair of cognac boots in a different brand with that much cash! I love my cognac boots but if I were you I would definitely trade for the dark brown ones. For example these are less than $200 from Aldo, I have them and they are a fantastic boot:

I'd do the cognac. They're there ones you want and with Frye's you'll have them forever.
I have a pair my mom wore in the 70's and they are in great shape.

I'd go with the brown, that would always be my first choice. I like cognac in theory, but it doesn't really work all that well for me.

@PawPrints: I buy all my work shoes from Aldo because they stretch out the toe area for me (I had wide feet). Love that about them. Do you have a link for that boot because I can't find it on their site.
