I'm seriously curious. A friend of mine has a blog that she's had for a few years now and about seventy-five other moms she follows. She was looking over a post one of these moms posted about how she would 'absolutely hate' to have a girl because girls are so much more expensive, etc. I haven't really thought about it because I'm a tomboy at heart and I've already had one child, a boy. To me, it doesn't matter if this next one turns out to be a boy or a girl because they're going to get Henry's hand-me-downs anyways.
But then I saw a comment on one of the boards that harkened back to this lady's post, saying girls are more expensive! Are girls really more expensive than little boys? Is it because of the clothes or the toys or what's the deal?
My personal opinion is that kids are as expensive as you let them become. Sure, there are the basics you can't skirt around - diaper wipes, diapers, medical supplies for you LO, formula if you're feeding them formula, etc - but you don't -have- to go buy the latest and greatest or the cutest whatever. You can set a budget and stick to it. So why do people think girls are more expensive?
