ours had ducks on them! I don't know if we were allowed to take them home or not, but we did!

@autumnlove: out hospital uses this animal one. It's the common blanket here regionally.

@LBee: haha the discharge nurse said we could take one of the blankets to cover the carseat on our way out and I'm thinking yeah.. I may have already packed 2 or 3 in my bag

The first one! I didn't know there were different ones! We went home with two from the NICU!

We have the thick stripes one, and have four I think, two from each baby. No one ever told us not to take them and no one ever told us we could take them. The nursery nurse who gave our son his first bath did ask if we had a pet at home, which I later realized was because she would have given us a "birth" blanket to use for acclimation purposes. I figure if they offer this, they aren't too hard up for blankets...

Aww, that blanket! This is the one thing that I am kind of sad about that I don't have for my son...I gave birth abroad and they don't use them.

We had the second one. I was told to take everything I wanted, but I only took one blanket. (We actually brought it home for our dog to sniff to get used to the baby)

The top one. But the hospital told us we could take everything except the blankets so we don't have any.

My daughters were both born abroad, so we don't have these I really wish we had photos on these and the bow beanies. Oh well - next baby!
Our private hospital used (and we took home) pink onesies/beanies embroidered with the hospital name and logo, and double sided blankets - one side is solid pink with an embroidered logo in one corner, the other side is white with tiny little prints of the logo (a little cherub) in pink. I'm not sure what the local hospitals used.

Top. I had to sneak it home both times. Eventually I plan to use it as the background in their shadow boxes
I also have both of their bow beanies!

It had little cartoon bunnies on it. I don't think we brought ours home, not sure why.

Ours was different than any of the ones pictures. It was a soft flannel one like the stripe one but just plain blue on one side and plain pink on the other. We never took it home.

Top one! We were specifically told not to take it, but we did anyway.

found a pic of the footprint one
Where DD was born all the babies got hand knit hats instead of the usual hospital one

We got the top one. My husband asked if we could take one and they said no. I started crying about the thought of not having the first blanket he was wrapped in (damn hormones) so he *may* have taken 2.

We had the bottom striped one for both boys at different hospitals. The nurse gave us a couple with our first. We didn't take any with our second but definitely used the ones we had when he was tiny. I love those blankets!
@Mamaof2: we also got a knitted hat at one of the hospitals!

both were wrapped in the footprint blankets...I actually swiped one this last time because DD2 loved it so much I was scared not to have one in case we needed it! ha

I really don't remember. Hmm...
Our hospital puts the babies in turquoise fleece halo sleepsack swaddles once you're in the postpartum room, so that's all I have pics of LO in.
ETA. After going back and looking at pics, neither. The blankets are light turquoise waffle knit. No wonder I didn't remember...

We had the first one. Our nurse gave us a ton to take home - we probably have at least 5 or 6?

Top, we have a couple of both taken for the pets to sniff. I heard an interesting NPR story on these a couple years ago.

We had the bunnies but they told us we couldn't take them so we didn't. A nurse also gave us a hand made beanie which was sweet but it was too small. LOs giant head was kind of a literal sore spot for me so that kind of bummed me out.
