I am not interested in these particular rockers but which type did you prefer for yourself? I want something that will look good in our living room and won't look too much like nursery furniture. I like the idea of the upholstered rocker (3rd option) but I am worried about little fingers.

We have #1 for C's nursery and LOVE it. For baby number 2, we got one similar to #2 because it takes up much less space and there just isn't enough room (in the room or our budget frankly) and while it's comfy, I think I'll miss the wider footprint for when LO is bigger and wants to read books while sitting next to me (a perk I didn't think about when buying the first chair)

We got a Dutailer glider (#2) off of Craigslist for $60. It was white, which went with our other nursery furniture. My mom made slip covers for the cushions.
It worked well because the nursey is small and it doesn't take up much space. I still use it every day (2 years later). I think I might get another one for the new baby so we can have one in each room. #1 and 3 would be nice for our older daughter's room where we have more space, but I don't want to stress about what would happen if she found a marker or crayon. For that reason, we'll probably look for another good quality used glider like #2.

Have you had a chance to sit in one yet? I only ask because I thought I wanted an upholstered glider, until I sat in them and they just aren't tall enough for me. Then, I thought I would like a gliding lazy boy. Well, I didn't like the motion of those, or rockers. Long story short, we ended up custom ordering a Best Brand glider from a furniture store. It may be worth considering, they have tons to pick from, but will likely take awhile to come in.
Ours will look similar to this but has a much prettier print on it than the picture, and there were tons of glider and fabric options to pick from!

We have #2- maybe that exact one. I find it really really comfortable, and it's easy to stand up from hands free if you are holding a sleeping baby. It's tall enough to put my head back. It feels nice in my back. And it was a lot less than the upholstered ones and smaller footprint which was the deciding factor.
That said I think it looks like nursery furniture and isn't as nice looking as number 1. I read books in it with c in my lap but there wouldn't be room to sit next to me- but she sits next to me on the couch and on the bed in her room. We have this in our living room because it's the only place there was room for it.
I much prefer a glider to a rocking chair- just more comfy to me.
Eta: definitely sit in them if you can. I was surprised that 2 was more comfortable for me than 1, because I don't have a great back and the firmer support was better.

Our first was an upholstered swivel glider from Best Chairs. We loved the chair but wanted a new one for the twins that was wider and had a higher back to it. We ended up stumbling upon their recliners which also swivel and glide - I can't wait to be able to sleep in the chair with the babies if I need to. We picked the bilana (which isn't my favorite from a look standpoint but was wide enough for the twins) and I'm really excited for it to get here.

I've read that the padding on the wooden rockers can wear out, and in nannying I've noticed that it definitely isn't as comfortable for me. We're going with something like #1. I considered a recliner, but I need to be able to put my feet up even when not reclining (my knees start to hurt really badly if I sit too long without my feet up), and when I was nannying for a family that had one it was hard to get up from it without waking the baby (if I had it reclined).

I got the 2nd kind and after 19 months the seat isn't the most comfortable for long periods, but most moms aren't going to be in them so long at this age lol my daughter still nurses to sleep so for sleep regressions or crazy teething nights, though rare, can mean a long night sitting on that chair! I have to put a folded up blanket in the seat to make it more comfortable. So if I were to be buying another, I would go for something more like the 1st, or even just a rocking recliner.

We opted for a leather upholstered glider like #1, by Best, ordered through a local furniture store. We plan to move it into our office/library once we are done with it as nursery furniture.

I bought a lazyboy rocker recliner in a grey floral pattern. It suits our living room (which is where it is at the moment), but also matches the carpet and curtains in our bedrooms.
love that it reclines when you want to get reaaal comfy (great for watching a movie)

I got a glider from West Elm this time around (didn't do a rocker or glider for first LO and regretted it). It's so comfy and I love that it fits in with our living room decor, as well. Because of fears about stains we went with a neutral grey in an easy to clean fabric.

We have something like #1, and I still love it 2 years later. Easy to rock, love the swivel, and very comfy. I don't like the look of #2, and I find gliders much easier to use than rockers (that's important in the middle of the night when you're exhausted!).

My friend has a recliner and I thought it was such a good idea but she said the recliner didn't give her as much support during breast feeding days. So she recommending getting a traditional glider or rocker. She uses the recliner for her oldest to have a comfy place to sit and read books.

@dc yoga bee: ours has a really deep seat (best chairs) so it was hard to get situated and it was really really hard to nurse in... And now that ds is 13 months old, it tips when we get out of it.

@simplyfelicity: I got the same chair from Buy Buy Buy that @marionberry got. We used a 20% off coupon which saved us a lot of money! If you have a BBB around you I recommend looking around and using a coupon.

I got a dutalier glider from BBB. I recommend sitting in them when you're good and round. I found that I had trouble getting up from the recliners and thought I'd have trouble doing so with a newborn. My glider is perfect...it rocks and glides. It was a nice small fit for our apartment and now for the smaller bedroom

@simplyfelicity: you can sign up for email and mail coupons on their website. It takes 6-8 weeks for the Best chairs to come in once you order.

@simplyfelicity: it definitely was a huge splurge for us, but it's the most comfortable chair I've ever sat in. The model on the floor with piping was $589, but we ordered ours without piping and it was $539 without the coupon. After the coupon and taxes (Texas) we paid $467. We got it in a color that we hope will go with living room furniture when we are done using it with kids.

We have something similar to #1 for DS1- it's a Flexsteel swivel glider. http://www.flexsteel.com/home-furniture/products/chairs-and-ottomans/accent-chairs/sku/022C-13
We loved it so much that we got the same one in another color for DS2. I wanted something that we could repurpose for another room when the boys are older, which you really can't do with #2. You might also look at Best Chair.
