R is pulling herself up to standing now and loves to stand holding onto something.
Yesterday she loved this walker (picture#1) at a bday party.
But I am not sure what is the best kind to get. The kind where she can walk and push on her own. Was thinking picture #2 Or this kind more like an exersaucer, which we already have. (picture 3)
What did you have? Any recommendations?

The ones like in #3 are not recommended anymore. They can be dangerous and they can cause them to develop the wrong muscles in their legs. Just FYI.
We have #2. She loves it and still plays with it at 18 months old. We had the pink, girly one.

I've read some really bad stuff about the kind like #3, so I'd stay away from ones like that. I think the sale of those has actually been banned in some countries. I like #2!

One thing I heard about a walker is to actually make sure it has some weight to it or the ability to add some weight to it so they don't slip away from them.

#2 is the one I want to get!!! It's also the same one my SIL has (ooh, maybe she'll give it to me)! BUT I don't actually know if it's the best or not, haha. So ignore me.

We have the Radio Flyer Classic Walker Wagon . . . LO *loves* it, and it is super stable!

I don't think you can go wrong with 1 or 2 but I also feel strongly about the safety issues and development delays that come with #3. They're banned in my country, but a friend had one at their house for their twins. I did research and ended up not letting DS go in it. No judgement, each of us makes decisions that we feel is in the best interest of our children.
FWIW we have 3 push toys, 1 very similar to #2 and 2 that are push/ride on trucks. All last years Christmas gifts

@loveisstrange: @lawbee11: That is what I thought that I read about #3 too but they are sold everywhere so I thought that maybe I read it wrong.
@T.H.O.U.: That is what I am concerned about too. Since she is just standing with it. But I would rather her not stand on the coffee table, cause if she falls on that it is solid wood.
@MsLipGloss: It is heavy enough where it won't ride unless you are pushing it? Our problem is we have all hardwoods.

they will like pushing pretty much anything. charlie tried tons of different walkers at the local indoor playspaces and we also had the radio flyer wagon and the melissa and doug alligator and he loved them all.
for younger kids, #2 might be easier to push. the wagon is great because they can ride in it which charlie and olive loved, but it is very hard to turn and they can't do it on their own.

We have #2. DS loves it. The front piece comes off so you can sit and play with it - sounds and songs, animals, shapes, and counting.

@Smurfette: The back wheels (closest to the handle) have a little mechanism that slows down the Wagon when it is being pushed . . . it won't keep it from moving when your LO is pulling up on it/ playing with it, but that combined with the weight makes it much less likely that it will *get away* from your LO.
The one downside is, like @Mrs. Bee: mentioned, that the Wagon is hard to turn, so you will need to turn it around for your LO. For hardwoods though, that would be my pick.

@Smurfette: At least with the wagon or your picture #1 you could put a bag of beans or something heavy in it to weigh it down if needed (making it harder to push).

We have #2. LO loves it. The music drives me nuts. There is an adjustment for the wheel speed but at first it was still too fast for her, I'd walk behind her slowing it down now. Now it's perfect and she's learning how to change direction.
The #3 type walkers are banned in Canada. If you sell one it's a $50k fine.

@Smurfette: We have #2 and E still plays with it at 16 months. It also has a mechanism on the back wheels to slow them down so that it won't roll as fast and new walkers can keep up.

Oh great, we have the #3 kind. It's a hand-me-down of a hand-me-down so we didn't pay anything for it, at least. We only use it on the carpet, so she's never 'walked' in it, it's serves more of a purpose like the stationary activity centers.
I read the article that @oliviaoblivia: posted, but I still don't really see the danger

We have this one and DS loves it. We had a fisher-price plastic one, but the wheels were just too fast for our floors, even on carpet.
The wooden one works well!
We price matched it at BBB with a regional chain grocery shop (Meijer) and had some credit and got it for $25?

@swurlygurl: LOs can actually tip over in the wheeled-sit-in walkers (and face plant . . . head trauma, knock out teeth, etc.!). . . especially if they hit any kind of lip/edge/item on the floor. The walkers are also incredibly dangerous around stairs . . . which seems obvious, but . . .

We have one like #3, but he just sits in it and plays with the toys. If she likes to pull up and stand I'd go with one of the first two. He will be getting something similar for Christmas from one of his grandma's.

We have #2 and have had it since my LO was 6 months old when he would only play with the buttons. He's 16 months now and still loves it!

@MsLipGloss: #2. DH liked it better. He didn't want the wagon one cause we are planning on asking his parents to get her a wagon for Christmas. I told him that will be a full size one for her to ride in and not push. But he wanted #2 still.

We have #2 and LO is in love with it. He's 19 months almost but play with that thing daily. Sometimes he calls it his "gagoom"

We had melissa and doug alligator clacker and he started using it around 10 months, but I think it's a harder walker when they don't have good balance. He's now 17 months and still uses it to run fast around the house.

We got this when LO was 9 months old. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0002HYDPY He has literally used it everyday for over a year. He now races through the house with it and fills the wagon with his toys to take them from room to room. One time he pushed it into my bedroom filled with all my shoes he collected throughout the house! His 10 month old cousin pushes him in it. Older kids enjoy it too, so I see this still being a favorite in the coming years. It is expensive, but sturdy and will have a good resale value. I also like that you can tighten the wheels for the first few months.

@ladybee: Nope those are fine, it's just the exersaucer-like walkers that are dangerous and apparently not good for development.

@ladybee: My boss has a child the same age as me and he brought her to see a physical therapist because she couldn't sit up on her own at almost 10 months. The therapist said it was partly because she had weak muscle structure and also partly because they were putting her in an exersaucer too much so she was leaning too much on the side and not working to develop her leg and core muscles.

I like the Melissa and Doug push walkers. They feel much more stable than others we've used.
I know the ride in walkers are not recommended and I understand why. but I took care of a kiddo that loved it and I think it helped motivate him to walk on his own. He started walking independently at 9 months and hasn't suffered any ill effects. He's now two and tells me "I run fast."I was very cautious with him in it, never leaving him alone and not overusing it. He had a safety 1st like the one pictured. It moved well and felt stable.

We have #2 and #3, #2 is something they can still play with once they're older so if you're looking for an all-in-one that's my suggestion but the 3rd was my favorite before he was sturdy enough on his own
