My LO's white noise machine quit, and he's very dependent on it, so we will be ordering one ASAP. Ours was actually an old iPod that we used a white noise app on. Anyone have one they love - bonus if you tell me where to purchase and idea of cost

We have Dohm. It's ugly but it works great. I have no proof that this is true, but I always feel like lower-tech items are more reliable than higher tech items. This is just a motor/fan in a box. No real electronics. Seems to me like it should last a long time... and it gets stellar reviews.

I have a super basic homedics one and it does the trick. We have bought it at both buy buy baby and bed bath and beyond (first one got dropped a little too hard and needed to be replaced). $20 and you can use a 20% off coupon. Can't beat it. C is addicted too.

@Mae: that's what we have too and it's lasted for YEARS. It was used before we got it and it keeps on going- all night every night!

We have 2 dohms. I think we paid around $50 for the first one, and the second one we hit on a super sale on amazon and got it for $34. But I would have paid $50 again without a second thought. We love it.

We have a dohm in each of our kids' rooms. I agree with @Mae: on the low-tech option sometimes being the best. I replaced a fancy electronic one because it would randomly cut out. Also, this sounds crazy, but I think the noise from the dohm sounds a little gentler, less harsh than some white noise.

We have both the sound spa machine by home medics and the dohm . The dohm is louder, which is a win in our book. The sound spa one has been working great for two years, though!

@MrsF: I do agree that the dohm sound is gentler. They have them at doctors offices a lot too.

We also have a dohm for LO2 and love it. LO1 has a little Einstein sea soother we got it later and he likes it but it only plays for 25 mins. If we were to do it over id have 2 dohm's

@Mae: @Mrs. Bee: @Pancakes: @MrsF: @blackbird: @jetsa: I'm looking into getting the Dohm too when baby 2 arrives. Do you guys keep it on all night?

We have this one (times 2) by first years. The original was bought nearly four years ago at BRU and is still used nightly in my older girls room. We bought a second one from Amazon for our younger. It has a timer for 60 minutes but we don't use that feature, I prefer to let it go all night long. At less than $30, a reasonable little machine.

We have the dohm one as well. DH and I even have one in our room now! Our first one is still going strong 2.5 years later.

Maybe I'm weird but I found the Dohm to be a bit too soft. We have the cheapie homedics in both boys' rooms.

We have the homedics one too. We love it. Just bought a second for the LO#2's nursery. With LO#1 we didn't realize how important to the white noise was so we just had a little travel one that used batteries. After replacing the batteries every 4 weeks for the third time we got homedics one and were really happy.

We have a graco one that DS loves. 2 years and going strong. We also liked that it has a plug for your ipod/iphone. When DS was little, he liked to listen to one particular song over and over, so we'd hook the ipod up to it.

Sounds like the Dohm for the win! I agree it's not attractive, but everytime the white noise cuts out, LO wakes up crying, so something that reliable works for me. Thank you everyone!

I have a cheap one from the baby section in target in both kids room. I don't even know the brand, but they are loud enough that they don't wake each other. Even when DD is tantruming in the middle of the night!

We've been relying on an old 3G iPod with a white noise app for 18 months now. The best part is that we can bring it with us wherever we go. In the early days it was a lifesaver to bring with us even on errands. Just stick it in the infant carrier and off we go!

@ValentineMommy: We have two of these as well! They are great.
