We are going shopping tomorrow for nursery furniture but I wanted to get the hives opinion on furniture color. Would you buy your son white nursery furniture?

We did and it doesn't seem to have negatively affected his identity.

I didn't vote, but my son's nursery furniture was all white. His big boy room is honey oak with a painted navy bed.
eta: the nursery had white furniture against white walls, not my favorite look, but we were in a rental and there wasn't much i could do about it.

We have white nursery furniture in our son's room, and I love how it looks.

I would. I plan to use a combo of white and wood furniture no matter the sex of my future LOs.

My son's nursery is white. The sheets and curtains are aqua and accents are orange and lime green. I think dark furniture can look really formal and make a small room even smaller so it doesn't work for every house.

I think white nursery furniture is totally fine for boy or girl. BUT, I don't think white furniture always works as well for a big boy room, so if you are buying nicer stuff that you hope to grow with the baby through middle school or something, I think wood works better. So I think it depends how much you are buying and how long you want it to last.
We were going to do dark wood (since we generally prefer that for furniture anyway) but then my mom offered us a medium toned wood dresser, so we found a crib that matched that. It was mine growing up, and there is a matching tall dresser, twin headboard, and desk, that we can eventually have too.

I think if it's just a crib it's not a big deal. But I'm not a fan if it's a convertible crib converted to a full size bed. I think it looks kinda girly. Especially if you throw in all the matching stuff - dresser, night stand, etc.

Our nursery has all white furniture and I love it. It looks so clean and bright!

I think white baby furniture is great regardless of the baby's sex.

I would, I actually prefer white cribs but DH thinks it is too girly so it got vetoed.

Ours is white and his big boy room will be white too. We have a matching set.

I really like white nursey furniture but DH is really against white (and black) because of how easily he claims the color shows scratches and marks...He used to work delivering children's furniture and said these were the hardest to deliver and match colors to fix any imperfections.

we mostly have white furniture in our whole apt (our bed is even white!), so I just assume we'll go with white when we put together a nursery.
in any case, I grew up sleeping on a blue bed and it didn't effect my gender identity at all

DS has a white crib and white bookshelves. I never thought it would be an issue.

All the furniture in my son's nursery is white. I never thought of it as girly.

All of my son's stuff is white, and it never seemed girly to me.

Yup! We bought a white crib and dresser for my son and loved it. We used it for my daughter too so it worked out. I personally like white nursery furniture over dark wood, for either gender!

I love white furniture for a boy or girl. We went with a very light/natural wood, but white would have been our second choice.

I like the look of white furniture! We ended up getting black for LO though since we didn't know the sex, and DH didn't want white. Maybe next time I can talk him into white

We ended up purchasing a white crib and changing table for our future little boy! Thanks for all the comments.

I love it! Our nursery is all white as well and I think it looks amazing. We have a lot of color in the other things so I am very happy with the way that it looks for our little boy

@sloaneandpuffy: haha...love this answer!
We have all white furniture. I voted 'who cares' because I consider white to be gender neutral so I wouldn't even question if it was appropriate for a boy!

I don't do gendering of colors, so I think you should just suit yourself and pick something beautiful/affordable/durable/whatever.

So, I'm already getting comments about picking girl furniture...sigh. Oh well.

We ended up having a girl, but we were Team Green so our nursery is gender neutral. We have all white furniture and I think it would have worked equally well for a girl or a boy...it just depends on all the other design choices you make for the room.

Yes! I vastly prefer white furniture to plain wood. He has a white bookshelf, white/navy dresser and white changing table, and a grey crib.

We are having a boy and all his furniture is white I never understood wood for boy/white for girl?
