The Christmas traditions thread got me curious, who will you be spending Christmas with? Is it different from when you were a kid?
The last couple years have been weird for us, my parents split up so we've been navigating that. As a kid, we always went to my grandmother's house, up until high school! I have really fond memories of our childhood Christmases

My mom and MIL are coming to visit! We live far from our families so we don't see the same family members each year. Now that we have a LO we will always be home Christmas morning. We told our families they are welcome to come see us and both our moms took us up on it. I haven't been with my mom on Christmas in 6 or 7 years so I'm really excited.

We're spending it at home, but my parents and my brother are coming to spend the day with us!
As a kid, we used to go to my grandparents' house and see all our aunts, uncles, and cousins, but eventually, we all got sick of the drive and started spending Christmas at home with just our immediate family. My brother and I really preferred having the low-key home Christmases, so that's part of the reason Hubs and I have decided not to travel for Christmas anymore now that we have kids of our own.

We're going to my parents house this year and also have celebrations with the extended family on both my mom's and dad's sides.
We alternate years between my family and DH's family.
As a kid, I always woke up Christmas morning in my own bed. I plan to try to do the same with our kids once they are old enough to know what is going on. So no traveling until at least Christmas afternoon!

Actual Christmas Day, MIL, FIL and most of DH's siblings, their partners and kids. Christmas Eve day a lunch with my mum/my sisters their partners and kids and my granddad. My dad has invited us to a Boxing Day meal but DH and I are arguing about that one. Sigh. Christmas was much easier when it was just us living abroad.

Both of our families are far away. We are going to spend Christmas Day with friends, probably just hanging out, eating and maybe watching a Christmas movie (at home).

We're spending "pre-christmas" through Christmas eve day with my parents in Wisconsin and then my in-laws are meeting us at our place in California and will be staying with us Christmas eve night and then for a few days. It sounds crazy but I'm pretty excited! It's my first real Christmas with a baby!

We've slowly been shifting. We used to try and cram everyone in on Christmas day but now we're planning on seeing the in-laws Christmas Eve and just have Christmas at home with my parents coming over.
When I was a kid, it was our house, grandparents house, extended family. It was literally all day in and out of the car visiting! I'm glad we're not doing that anymore.

We are going to the inlaws' again. We've done this every year since we met but DH has agreed that I can host at home every other year going forward and we have broken the news to MIL so I'm happy.

We are lucky, my ILs come to us and get along really well with my family. So for my Christmas we will spend it with : MIL/FIL/SIL, my parents, 2 of my sisters, 3 aunts and uncles, 2 of my cousins and their spouses, 3 of my 2nd cousins and my cousins' spouses' parents (that's a mouthful 
)There's always a big crowd which I love.
My other sister , my best friend in the entire world, moved across the country last year so for the first time she won't be home. I'm so sad not to have her, my bil and my niece home with us

Pretty standard: my parents, Ms mom and step dad, @littlejoy and her fam, my Aunt & Uncle and Grandma are coming to dinner at our house. My sister lives in CA. Ms brother will be with his bio Dad. So we are missing a few.

Christmas Eve is with the in laws at my house. Christmas morning is just the 4 of us, and then once D goes to his dad's that afternoon, the other 3 of us will be going to my parents' house for dinner. Also, my brother is coming around New Year's, so we're having another "Christmas" with them the next weekend at my parents' house. D will be back from his dad's for that one.

This year we'll be at home with a brand new baby
So just me, D, the kids, and my mom (who lives with us). My IL's will be bringing Christmas dinner that evening.
Normally we go to my BIL's house, which I love, but I can't imagine driving 2 plus hours with a toddler and a newborn a week after a c-section.

As a child - I only had one set of Grandparents (the other passed when I was 1) so we spent both Christmas Eve and Christmas with the same side of the family (Eve at Grandmas, Day at our house).
Now that I have my own family - my sister and I alternate Christmas Day (we have a third sister who lives out of town). My MIL is weird and insists on having Christmas Day dinner...this will no longer be an option to her after this year - I am done with it.
We have no formal plans for Christmas Eve...so DH and I are starting our own tradition this year with a Ham and a trip to build-a-bear.

Growing up, we always spent Christmas traveling. Usually, to Vegas and/or Cali. Since starting my own family (even when it was just DH and I), we continued that "tradition". Sometimes, we'd travel with my family, but mostly, we did our own thing.
This year, due to DH starting a new job recently and not having time off, we'll actually be home for Christmas! Not sure how we'll handle that. lol!! But we'll probably just stay home the 3 of us and enjoy being lazy and opening presents.
My family and in laws will be traveling like normal.

Originally it was going to be just LOs and DH, but our baby came early and now my parents are coming! I am really excited. It's the first time I've been with my parents on Christmas since 2012!!!

It will be just us! I am super excited. Christmas eve we get together with family. In January some more family will come to visit.
Growing up changed all the time, but my favorite was when it was just "us," whatever our immediate family was at the time, at least Christmas day. My mom was constantly married to a bunch of different people, so it is always tough to classify anything!

Usually my sisters and I (with families) go to my parent's house for several days and do Christmas lunch with them, my aunt, and her kids and grandkids. Or we go see DH's family in South America.
This year, I'm too close to my due date to travel that far, so my parents are coming to stay with us and we will do Christmas Eve and Christmas Day activities with my sister and her family. (We live in the same city, about 1:45 from my parents.)

My parents were in town this week so we did Christmas with them this past weekend. It will just be us and the kids on Christmas Day, and then my inlaws get here on the 27th. We get three Christmases this year, not too shabby

My parents are coming to us. I like having more than just the three of us there for the fun that is Christmas morning. I may have different feelings if we had more than one kid but i think it's great now.

Probably spending the morning by ourselves,s having my family over for lunch, then having a small Christmas party with friends at night.

My parents, MIL and FIL and SIL are all coming to spend the holiday with us. No they aren't staying in our house, and my family only overlaps with DH's family for Christmas Day. So it won't be overwhelming. I'm excited to see them all and very happy not to have to travel anywhere. DD is going to get showered with attention, she's the only grandkid.

Christmas Eve with DH's extended family. Christmas Day we are staying home, but the IL's are going to come for dinner. On the 26th we are heading to my sister's and will see my parents and my mom's family.
In the past we have done DH's parents and my family gathering on Christmas Day, but I didn't want to wake up at someone else's house and travel on Christmas this year.

We are home until Noon on Christmas day and then we head to my moms house and see my sister and her family and my brother and his family.
I actually love driving on Christmas Day because the roads are empty!!!

We're hosting both our families on Xmas day. It will be a quiet day just the three of us on Xmas
Eve.
