I COMPLETELY forget to re-register after I got married, moved, & changed my name, so no voting for me. =(
I live in a Red State though & would've voted following suite had I remembered.

@runsyellowlites: can't you register at your polling place? We've moved every year and just had to show proof of our new address
None!! I'm writing someone in who didn't make it past the preliminaries.

@Coco Bee: ooooh I have no idea! I guess I was always under the assumption you had to "pre" do that.

@runsyellowlites: definitely check!
DH changed his name when we got married and was actually listed twice when we got there.

@runsyellowlites: Please go vote still!! Just bring a utility bill or something with you and a marriage license if you didn't change your name on your ID yet! Please so and vote still, I'm almost 100% positive that you can still register there! (DH and I both registered this morning before we voted!!)

@anonysquire: Another one here! DH and I both voted this morning and waited in line for over an hour!!

Obama and YES for marriage equality (state issue on whether to allow SSM or not).

@anonysquire: @MrsBrewer: Yeeeeep. Add me to the list! Oh, also "yes" for marriage equality (or technically "no" in MN...that wording is tricky!).

@MrsTiz: @anonysquire: Should have done early voting, but I kind of like the crowd and big rush of people!

@rachiecakes: @MrsBrewer: Thanks ladies. I checked & Texas requires registration atleast 30 days prior to the election. I am very thankful though that my absence shouldn't affect the votes from our state going to Romney though! Go red!

Haven't been yet, but I will join many other New Yorkers in voting for Obama.

@runsyellowlites: I showed up to early voting with no voter ID card, my old registration that they had in the system that had my old name mispelled, and I had no trouble voting at all. But my address on my license was correct...
I bet you would still be able to vote!
ETA: I'm also in Texas. You can check if you are registered here: https://team1.sos.state.tx.us/voterws/viw/faces/SearchSelectionVoter.jsp

I moved, changed my name and didn't re-register and I still voted this morning! I thought i registered when I got my new license, but they didin't have a record of me. They didn't even need to see ID!

@runsyellowlites: Oh I didn't know that!! Crazy to me how all states differ with voting!

@meredithNYC: Haha my DH and I are the only two NY'ers voting for Romney! I always feel like my vote won't count, but I still make it to the poll anyway!

@Modern Daisy: Aw, I'm sure you're not! I just think Republicans are quiet here. It's like how growing up in Indiana while being a Democrat was for me. So I get it

@highwire: Turns out I'm not registered (I really thought I did when I turned 18, almost 10 years ago). I tried by my DL first but nothing came up, then tried by my name but tbh can't remember my zip code for where I would've been registered (It was a loooooong time ago)
Looks like I'm the black sheep of voting *hangs head*
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
@Modern Daisy: I know many Romney supporters in NY you are not alone!
@ms.janedoe: are you in MN too?

My vote technically won't count since I'm in a red state but whatever, I'm voting anyway! Obama and proud here, but def. not getting into any political debates, I'm just happy that so many women are voting--no matter what your political preference is!

I won't post who I voted for (I'm very private about that) but I did vote in the poll

@MrsBrewer: Yea, seeing that there are quite a few that have deadlines, some even farther out than Texas!
@anonysquire: Thanks, if I didn't live in Texas I would totally be kicking myself. Until this election I never really paid any attention so guess I didn't keep up too much with if I was/wasn't registered... I HIGHLY doubt I have anything to worry about though. =)

@babyjmama: I agree -- DH doesn't vote, and he doesn't understand why I do. So rather than getting into the general civic duty argument with him, I tell him I'm a woman and women literally died not even 100 years ago so I could do this, so I'm obligated
grapefruit / 4235 posts
@ladyfingers: @babyjmama: I agree re: women voting...less than 100 years ago we didn't even have the right!
I am also kind of annoyed at all of the people who are all proud that they vote once every 4 years. We vote every year, people, and your local elections probably have a bigger impact on your daily life than the Presidential/Congressional elections!
pomelo / 5331 posts
@dagret: I know, I'm so bad about that! I haven't ever voted between presidential elections But now that we own our house and I'm registered at my new address, I'm going to make much more of an effort to do so!

Proud Obama supporter here! I'm in MA so we all know how that's going. All the other stuff on our ballot is so important so I'm almost more excited for that.

@MrsHotDog: I was born overseas, so I can never be President! Otherwise, I would have been a shoo-in!!
Ps what's my platform again... constipation-free poops for all?
Pps thanks for your vote!!

@meredithNYC: Ditto to voting for Obama later. Part of me wants to be lazy and just go downstairs at my job and vote via affidavit so that I can just go home after work.

@MrsHotDog: Haha, my husband joked that he was going to write me in. I had to remind him I'm not old enough to be president yet!
@mrbee: My FIL was born in France and often laments that he can never be president.
admin / wonderful grape / 20724 posts
@Rock n Roll: I like to pretend that's the only reason I'm not President right now. It's not me, it's the Constitution!!
