Bee handles our personal bills, while I handle most of the business bills and do our taxes (home and business).

My dad actually did them for us, but I handle the day to day finances. My husband can't stand dealing with finances.

We get them professionally done, because our situation is a little complex.

My husband LOVES doing taxes every year...so much so, that for his February birthday, I usually get him tax software!

@looch: Who pulls together all the paperwork for the accountant?

@mrbee: my husband. He's a meticulous record keeper, even for my papers.

@looch: Impressive, hat tip to Mr. Looch!!
I always end up playing forensic accountant at the last minute, trying to track things down... his system sounds much better!!

@mrbee: haha, he's nuts at times, but it seems to work because he can always pull up what we need at a moments notice...largely because he scans EVERYTHING.

Neither...dh's uncle does them. DH pulls his business expenses together and I pull our personal expenses.

DH does them! I tired once before getting married and was just so confused. My dad did mine before I got married.

My mother used to be an accountant, so she takes care of our taxes. My husband keeps budget spreadsheets, but we both tend to our budget/bills. We have the bills split up somewhat - he tends to some and I do others (even though it is almost all his money). For example, I'm always the one to make sure the electric and car payment are paid and he is always the one who makes sure the cell phone and his student loans are paid on time. Most of our bills are auto-pay though, so there aren't many we have to actually think about.

My husband gives all our paperwork to an accountant. My husband did them himself for several years until we started making some investments which he couldn't handle on his own.

DH. He has been doing taxes for hire for years. He saved me so much money since doing them

I've always done them, but this year, with the adoption, selling two house, buying one, having one of us be a contractor and some complicated student loan repayment grants, we got an accountant. It was a good move (Our return was 120 pages this year!)

DH handles everything that deals with our finances, taxes included. It's a huge stress off my shoulders, and I'm very thankful for that.

We have an accountant because of the farm. It makes our taxes complicated (to say the least). Eric pulls most stuff together. He's an engineer at heart, so he has a way with anything that requires organization and precision.

I handle all finances, including the taxes. I use Turbo Tax for federal and state, and I file local by hand.

An accountant. I am an independent contractor so I have a lot of write offs and need help figuring it out. We also have a small business on the side so we find it helpful to just have an accountant do both of ours.

we did them together this year. Like, literally sat on the couch and took turns doing the typing and rifling through our files. It only took 1 night, about 3 hours total.
But, we don't own our own business, so ours aren't as complicated. We always have enough write offs to itemize though, and that's what takes a while,

DH is the tax man here. He has a much more complicated tax return than mine (which is very basic and straight up) so he prepares everything and takes it to our accountant. We always end up with a WICKED tax return too so I'm happy to hand that job over.

Our accountant. DH has a ton of paperwork, my stuff is pretty cut & dry.
