In our relationship it's DH. He gets some kind of high from buying things. He buys like 90% of our things which is great b/c I'm not a shopper!

Me, but I'm not really a huge shopper. DH is just crazy conservative and literally doesn't buy anything.

@HLK208: me too! I have so many packages showing up to the house all the time, it's embarrassing. I return a lot of stuff though, that's gotta count for something!

My DH for sure. He buys nearly all of LOs outfits and stuff we need. I'm not a big shopper.

I am definitely the shopper, in terms of actually enjoying the process. I can spend a perfectly amazing day at the mall without buying a thing! But DH actually buys more things, though he hates shopping, since he buys for the house too

Me probably. But I also shop cheaper. And I return a lot of stuff (like I order a ton of stuff for the free shipping, decide what to keep, return half).
But when DH does shop he will order like 8 new work shirts at once, or buy four new pairs of pants. Not to mention expensive gadgets. Luckily that isn't very frequent.
He has bought like one onesie for LO. Ever.

Me! He never shops, unless for beer or whiskey. Although he will go to Home Depot for one thing and come home with three other things.

Me but I have a husband that just doesn't like to spend money on anything--not even himself. I would not call myself a big shopper these days, but i definitely biy more than he does.
Eta: we've been hit by a ton of crappy financial things regarding my rental house...we are almost up to $10,000 just in the past couple of months. And DH hasn't hesitated to pay for all of that, so it comes in handy to have a husband that's good at saving.

We're both pretty equal, though I like to browse and he shops with a purpose. I do most of the buying though, because I know what we need for the babies, house, etc.

@mrscobee: I shop much more than DH. He will shop for things for necessities, if we need something for around the house (usually groceries or home repair items).
But I shop much more frequently and buy things that my DH refers to as 'bobbles'. Lol... clothes, home decor, presents... all of the things that we don't 'need'. Hahaha.

He doesn't think or talk about it as much as I do, but once we're out he ends up buying a bunch more stuff! And for our major purchases he does all the legwork, comparing, reading review etc. So I voted him.

I do most of our shopping, but I try to stick to things we actually need. If DH does the shopping, he always seems to come home with a bunch of random crap.

That's a tough question to answer! DH is more likely to make bigger purchases (new computer monitor, new video game, etc), and I am more likely to buy little impulse things (outfit for LO, new water bottle, book, etc). It probably comes out about even these days, because we are on a tighter budget and not doing much shopping.

Me. But getting Amazon prime packages of detergent and kind bars is not that exciting.

I shop more but when he buys something, it's pricy. And don't send him to Walmart for milk. He comes home with so many extras!

I take care of all our needs. He is such a frivolous spender. He buys all the things we don't need

@Mamasig: my DH has bought himself 3 guns, ammo and a Playstation 4 this year....honestly he can't stop. He's so freaking expensive
pomegranate / 3895 posts
@Mamasig: I had a client that once told me that if you sent her husband to buy a broom, he would come back with a top of the line vacuum cleaner. I laughed so hard because it described my husband to a T!
We are probably equal, but my items are much lower cost!

100% me. DH just doesn't buy anything at this point (except things like groceries). It's fine most of the time because I enjoy it. It becomes a problem when DH really wants something that I'm not interested in researching (mostly recently, a vacuum).

All me. He is a necessities only kinda guy. If it were up to him, we could fit everything we own in a one bedroom apartment.
He does occasional splurges, but he usually only buys things he needs when there is a surplus or when it's broken beyond repair. I on the other hand will buy to make our lives more convenient and enjoyable.
We ran into that discussion the other night when he told me his iphone was slow and ancient but that we couldn't afford a new one. BS. I offered to drop it for him so he could justify a new one in his mind.

@LBee: that is so true! Guess it's a man thing! But when it comes to himself he hardly ever buys.

Me, no question. My DH hates shopping with a passion and I love it.

Me! But anything big (house stuff like furniture or large expensive toys for DD) I run by him before pulling the trigger or we just do it together.

Proper shopping - me.
Online shopping - DH!
He hates wandering around the shops, unless it is for household goods, DIY stuff, or groceries, and has limited free time anyway, so he is constantly shopping online. Amazon must deliver to our house five times per week, at least!
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
Definitely me. DH always says he never needs anything so he never buys anything!
Shopping gives me an emotional high haha - but I'm also very responsible about it and have budgeted amounts for spending, and never spend money I don't have.

We're pretty even! We buy different things, but we're def shoppers.
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
Both. I think we both have shopping weaknesses. DH likes buying books, DVDs, comics, and things like that.
I have trouble buying things for myself but if I find a great deal on a flash site, I'll get it. This applies to things for our home or dogs. Now that we are pregnant with twins my urge to shop has dropped. Though, I do have a lot of baby stuff that I've purchased over the past 2 years.

Definitely me by a long shot. DH doesn't shop, at all. Meanwhile I do so much online shopping that he jokes that I am trying to single handedly keep UPS in business. A lot of it gets returned though, I just always buffer up enough for free shipping

Depends on the kind of shopping! I buy all our house stuff and probably spend more total than him in odds and ends for us/the house/the baby, but in like $20 increments. I rarely buy stuff for myself though and if I do its like, a $20 dress from target. Spending a lot of money on myself stresses me out and I don't even really want anything expensive for myself.
DH has much more expensive tastes. He is into basketball shoes and collects hard to find Nikes. He loves music and buys songs and recorded a lot. He also cares about clothes more than I do and is more likely to go to banana republic and spend a couple hundred. But his splurges are pretty few and far between.
GOLD / wonderful pea / 17697 posts
@Foodnerd81: We're pretty much the same...he'll buy like 8 work shirts at one time or something.
pear / 1809 posts
I would say I buy more stuff, but it's usually things we need. DH buys more expensive things that are usually just for fun or just for him (like clothes). He loves very high end brands, so he spends way more than me on clothes, shoes, and even electronic gadgets! He also buys a lot of books, which add up over time.
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
Definitely DH! I'd be so rich otherwise. I'm a total saver and non-shopper. He's the opposite. lol
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
Me, he rarely buys anything, I even buy his clothes most the time!
