Old people live in my neighborhood. I don't mind but I wish there were more families with young kids near us!

Lots of young families, hopefully we'll be there with them soon in the park

Mixed-a family with 3 pre-teens across from us, an 88 year old next to us, mostly middle to upper aged people.

We have a mix, from older grandparents to young couples just starting out and everything in between. It's a great neighborhood!

Ours is a mix - some older couples, and some families with kids. It's very multicultural, which I like a lot. But we're probably going to move within a year, because while we like the people in our neighborhood, we don't like the geographical location. We don't even really like our house anymore.

A wide range. College students, young professionals, families with young kids, families with older kids, empty nesters...

lots of immigrants. there's very little english spoken in my neighborhood (unfortunately, i only speak english). lots of families, many multigenerational families living together in apartments & multifamily homes. we kind of live on a weird limbo street between the ghetto & the nicer side of the city.

Tons of kids everwhere some homeless people and some lower income families and some really really rich people! So... a mix!

Mostly older people with all their children grown & gone. Many, many retired folks. There are a few families with young children scattered about (only 5 on our street of 30ish houses).
pomegranate / 3779 posts
A mix - older couples that bought when the neighborhood was built, younger couples, a LOT of expatriots that move here for work in the energy sector.
eggplant / 11824 posts
There are 7 homes in our cul-de-sac and all but two couples have children. There are 3 other little girls within six months of LO!

The title of this post made me start singing "Oh, these are the people in your neighborhood!"
I have old people around here, too. We like it. It's quiet.

Retirees/empty nesters, with a small mix of young families. I like the combo!

Lots of people with babies! A few retired people too. Mostly young families though.

Mostly older couples and families with teenagers/middle schoolers (ugh.).

Every family on our court has kids. The youngest is two years older than ours and the oldest is ten.

Mostly older people, a few young families, and the creepy guy who rides his bike everywhere.

@loveisstrange: I actually laughed out loud but then felt guilty for laughing.
We have a mix of families and the first owners of the homes who are getting older.

For a while I felt like the only person around without a stroller in our gentrifying neighborhood, but as home prices keep going up - especially on the streets zoned for the best elementary schools - the 'hood is graying a bit.

@loveisstrange: lololol
We seem to have a good mix of families and old people.

We have a mix. There's a couple with a young daughter across from us and another with a young daughter on one side, on the other side is an older couple with college-age kids. Further down the street are mainly couples in their 20s and 30s, without kids. Like us.
grapefruit / 4703 posts
Mostly old people... The houses were all built in 1967, so it's a mix of mostly the original owners and slowly young couples are moving in who are buying them from the original owners (which is what we did).

Our complex has a lot of college students/single adults/young, mostly childless couples, and a few older women (late middle aged). One very late middle-aged couple. A couple of kids. Several people that live here work with D.
eggplant / 11716 posts
Mostly young families, DINKS, a few single people. Very few older people, and our particular wing and floor of our building is heavily south Asian. Probably a good thing, so our cooking smells don't disturb each other since we all do it.

A wide range. Young families with babies, families with young teens, old retired folks, college students. It's definitely predominantly caucasian. You see a lot more diversity out in the suburbs.

Is it bad to say I have no idea? I think there are a lot of young families, but a lot of elderly people to. Our neighborhood is all apartments so it is fairly dense with people coming and going.
pear / 1812 posts
Mostly students. We live near the university and the majority of our street has rental homes.
grapefruit / 4136 posts
Mostly families with older kids (middle/high school) a few streets over are younger families though.
honeydew / 7667 posts
@loveisstrange: that is quite the swing.
Mostly families with young kids and one older couple.
honeydew / 7916 posts
It seems like a mix of families with older school age kids to retirees. Kind of heavy on the older end though.
cantaloupe / 6692 posts
Across the street are two nice families who are related to each other. Down the road and behind us are some sketchy individuals.
pomelo / 5469 posts
Our development is a mix of older retired couples and families with school aged children. We don't really interract with anyone other than to say hi.
grapefruit / 4817 posts
@loveisstrange: Ha ha ha!
And we live on a dead end road with 10 other houses, which are mostly middle-aged empty nesters. We're the youngest home owners here by at least 20 years.
